Yup. I'm back in England, though this time, not for a happy visit.
Both of my wife's grandparents died, a month apart to the day.
I'm here helping get things organized.
From the time I got the word to the time I stepped out of Customs...
Elapsed time: 16 hours 3 minutes.
Who says airlines can't be accomodating?

We're going to be taking a day off on saturday, and at some point in the day, the
wife's going to be taking me to a grand mini-store in London.
I can't remember what it's called at the moment, but she said it was 5 stories tall,
or something to that effect. She's not here right now to ask again.
If anyone'll be in the neighborhood, I'd be delighted to put some faces to the names
that are more accurate than the PYP threads.
I'll post more details about when we'll be there when I have them, if anyone's interested.

Also sorry can't make it to London, mind you this time of year I wouldn't want to.
Anyhow enjoy what time you can and hope some nice people meet up with you. Failing that you'll have to do with the bunch from Coolminiornot.:tongue::laugh:

I wasn't aware there was a 5-story mini store in London but there is a toy shop, Hamleys.

Ok, I have information.
The place is called Forbidden Planet.
I have no idea how big it actually is, and the wife may have been exaggerating or something. I don't know.

Forbidden planet. There's one in Nottingham as well. That one is four stories if my memory serves me right. First floor is for movie merchandise and toys, second for movies, third for games(mostly GW and Privateer Press) and such and the fourth was kind of a museum with gaming possibilities. But they were renovating when I was there so the fourth floor was basically off limits.

Orcs Nest is just a short walk from FB (assuming we're talking about the one round the corner from Tottenham Court Rd / Leicester Sq tube) & worth a visit, more games than minis though. Unless they're discounted don't buy any comics from FB, both Duncan McAlpine's & Gosh are a walk away too. GW in The Plaza on Oxford Street would be the closest should you want to visit. I don't think Hamleys touchs wargaming/roleplaying any more but I may be wrong & the Virgin Games Centre near the 100 Club is unfortunately long gone. Don't know if anyone local is aware of other hobby related places in the vicinity? Nothing in Covent Garden? It's of use to me too as I haven't been since I got back into painting & am going to have to visit next year in order to see some rather too long neglected folk :)

Sorry the reason for your visit is so grim but hopefully it can still be a not too unpleasant time. Cheers, B.

I think you are getting confused between Hamleys and Forbidden planet.

Hamleys has five levels (at least) Forbidden planet only has two.

Neither of them are dedicated mini stores, Hamleys is general toys and FP is Comics and scifi/fantasy related "stuff"

As someone said, there is also Orc's Nest nd I suppose the GW store in the plaza on Oxford St.

If you can make it to outer london, then there is Leisure games in finchley that has a reasonable selection of non GW stuff, plus loads of RPG books.
