I used to have my computer separate from my work space but I realized that my painting and modelling gear slowly emigrated to my computer anyway, making a mess of two rooms instead of one. Yep, I'm lazy. I usually have my references and tutorials and all that on my screen instead of printing it out where I cannot zoom in on details or where half the pages of whatever I'm following has disappeared into the void called my desk... :D

well, concidering the fact that I'm a student I can't afford a huge house with a dedicated work area, so my computer workspace is shared with my wargaming workspace.

I'd love a separate space, but I know at least my laptop would be amongst one of the things that would be in my other workspace. :p

My computer sits next to my workspace as well.. I like watching dvds and tutorials on it or listen to music while Im painting. But it is distracting as hell :p

Too @ Darklord: How is it possible to move your arms in there?! It freaks me out just by looking at it haha.

But hey: different people, different workspaces.

its that or dont paint!

To prepare myself for using it I took several air flights and trying to see into GD cabinets to get used to confined spaces

This is my workspace.... I have to be able to tidy it up every day and remove it completely every week
Its better if I work at more remote locations then it can stay for 3 weeks! (but still cleaned up every day)

I don't use a TV or Hi-Fi any more, all through the computer now, which is on my desk, where I paint :) Always on with either music/TV/DVD/Radio/podcast & I paint with no more distraction than without (or at least at the same speed). I do sleep with Radio 4 on though so I suppose I prefer some background noise locally. Otherwise the sirens keep me on edge, not that it's an overly nasty area (only had the road police taped off 3 times so far this year) it's just that I'm close to police, fire & A&E! If I ever get around to cleaning my workspace I'll post a pic :D Cheers, B.

Hello CMON members! Here's my first post and a shot of my workspace for my computer work and painting. I generally keep things pretty neat and tidy since I have a hard time working with clutter.

@Cog : Heh, don't worry, that's an old brush I use to get the paint out from my GW pots and onto my palette. I take good care of my WNS7 brushes

@Chrome: Thanks! I'm actually in the process of looking for a new painting desk though. The current one is a little too low for me and I'm starting to get back pains from bending over it all the time. Hoping to pick up a Fredrik from Ikea soon with adjustable surface height.

I got myself an adjustable chair to solve that problem. When it's time for detail I just lower it and tadaa! :D Is a bit cheaper than buying a whole new desk as well. Another nice thing to have is armrests on the chair, using a hard wedge-shaped pillow (thick part against the back of your chair) straightens your back and then you can build up hard cushions on your armrests to the height you feel comfortable. ergonomic and really comfy once you get used to the strange angles.

@Chrome: Oh! That mini-drawer thing to the right of your computer is great! (Well, I don't know if you using it for painting or not) Where did you get it?
