Just need to vent folks, please bear with me
A tricky couple of days at work, plenty to do & my team-mate is away. Not unmanageable but tiring. Get home tonight, open post, Landlord's contractor is coming round next Thursday PM to measure up for a new front door & needs access to the property. First I've heard about it.
Next Thursday!?! So now I get to go to work on Monday & have to ask to book a day off with such little notice. Swines. They did it last year with the new kitchen & assured me that there was supposed to be a minimum of a fortnight warning. I know a girl who works in a bank who has to book ALL of her holiday at the start of the year, I guess that's a job for people with mortgages only? No mention as to when between midday & midnight they might show up. No clarification as to why each door needs to be measured in a scheme of identical flats (though I'm no joiner, surely there is one. It can't be yet another scam to suck more money out of the HA by making up work). No indication as to even the month that the door will actually be replaced.
That's not the bit that's really got me though
More tiresome, typical crap is the order of the day, frustrating, upsetting, disapointing but manageable. No, what's got me is that I broke my self-imposed rule, "Thou shalt not ring anyone when they've bugged you, minimum 24 hour pause required", and rang to ask why this has happened yet again. Why do they treat their tenants with such contempt, we're not all workshy scum with our backsides planted on the sofa 7 days a week, sucking the benfits system dry. I'm proud that I slog through a working week so that I can pay my own way & make a contribution to society through paying my taxes. I'm fed up of being treated like crap for not being clever enough to get a job that pays any better. My annual wage rise just hasn't kept up with real inflation (not the crap figures based on the price drops of Plasma TVs that are so far beyond my budget they may as well be imaginary but real how much is a pint of milk & a loaf of bread inflation) let alone the gods forsaken housing market. I just feel trapped in this little flat as I try to save up to move & the goalposts shift ever further away from me.
So now I'm going to be rung on Monday so that I can have it explained to me that I should be thankful to have a roof over my head and I'll have to be as nice & polite as possible so as not to risk providing an excuse to present me with an eviction notice. Aaaarrgh, stupid telephone. Stupider ME!
Anyway, I could blether away but I was really looking forward to relaxing with some painting tonight & now I just want to go out & get lashed (I won't but the urge is strong).
Regardless as to whether you've ploughed through the above, anyone else had a cruddy end to the week? You have my sympathy in advance
Just don't make me feel guilty for complaining while you're busy dying
Cheers all, B.
