Hey, you guys are Swedish! I descend from Sweden, though I was born here in California.

Anyway, it's interesting to hear everyone's thoughts as to the potential historical origins (if, in fact, there are any,) of my project here. To be honest, it was inspired largely by Eastern chain weapons, such as the manrikigusari, or the meteor-hammer, and yes, also fantasy references such as from AD&D, or even the Ghost Rider comic books. *Definitely* dangerous if one isn't careful. Usually, if I'm training with such soft weapons, I use a rope with a knot in the end; so much more comfortable when mistakes are made..

Ummm...yes, VERY good idea! VERY. I have friends who do SCA-style heavy combat among other weird and stupid things(I used to do heavy combat too...which would then make me weird and stupid...and I'm sure Chrome can verify if this fits me....) and getting hit with hard, pointy, sharp and/or heavy things are NOT fun. So, soft training items good.

yeah, of course your mother, or possibly grandmother, should have the name "Ingrid", otherwise i dont believe the swedish-ness. you should also fancy getting naked in cold snowy climate and kicking polar bear's butts with large axes :monkey:

My grandmother's name is "Inez", and as for the axes, (hello, original topic) let's just say since I set out with this flail, California's polar bear population has been *extremely* low.

I also firmly believe that the only thing you really need to know about swedes is that it's the english name for Turnip. Holl Sheft before you start, Chrome =P
