Your Nemesis

You know that guy/gal in the office that just annoys you? Every time you hear them speak it's like proverbial nails on your chalkboard?

Well I want to hear about it. Tell me about this obstruction to sanity that infests your office. What about them makes you throw a clot and have an aneurysm? What do they do to drive you batty?

The only reason I want to know of course is to ensure there is someone out there suffering even more than I. That'll lift my spirits!

I have a fellow supervisor who over the years has spent 3 years not speaking to me then he warmed as he felt we were brothers in suffering under a new system, only I got out of that fire by going on to nights. Now he spends days blaming my shift for all the wrongs on site and calling he a lazy tw&& to one of my staff. The result is that I took him before HR and hes back to not speaking to me.
Work would be great if not for the staff:smirk:

I have three.

No 1: I have worked with and managed for 9 years. Will not complete documentation, will not follow procedure, goes at any problem like a "Bull in a China" shop and then leaves others to sort out properly. Thanks to weak and toothless Senior management even Disciplinary Action I was forced to push through hasn't made him change.

No 2: Loud mouthed and loves to tell the whole of the office what he's doing. Also Blinkered and unwilling to see anyone elses point of view...pity he's a Union Rep with an attitude reminictient of the 1970's.

No 3: Miserable Git, no interest in doing any job right the way through, drops the "F-Bomb" very loudly if something goes wrong. Was a School support technician that Schools actively refused to have back on their premises. However thanks Again to Weak and Toothless Senior management he got transferred with recommendation to my section. By the time the truth came out about him, his Six month probation with us was over and his true colours started to show. Been disciplined over attitude, been suspended, behaves himself and then reverts after the Disciplinary Record period is over.

But hey this is a Council I work for and in the 9 years I've worked here I only know of two dismissals, one for assault and one after a conviction for Rape. Even the person who stole money managed to keep her employment.

Bit of a "Red Rag to a Bull" for me, is this topic.

I have worked my entire life in construction outside of a very very brief stint in retail clothign sales at a trendy local shop, nd I think I can say confidently that I have never encountered most of the problem I read about that occur in Office facilities. Out on the site, if someone really pissed you off, you either quit, or fight. Depending on the outcome of the fight you either; no longer have the problem, wind up quitting anyway, get fired, just go on taking the BS, or don't get bothered by teh other guy anymore.

I have seen a foreman beat the piss out of one of the hands who tried to brain him with a shovel. After pummeling the living daylights out of the guy he pulls him up, asks him if he can finish teh day and tells him to get back to work. next day and there after they were like best frends. It was wierd.

Grad student in one of the labs I support. He wears a boatload of cologne or Axe or something nasty... to the point that he leaves an obvious scent trail around the department, and sharing a small room with him is intolerable. Also, from the moment he arrived he's been trying to be everyone's bestest buddy, which of course has backfired as he annoyed the hell out of everyone. We also suspect he is simply making stuff up, as he seems to have done everything before and be a supposed expert at all sorts of arcane skills. Though I was briefly impressed when he opened a locked file cabinet with a hair pin. Less impressed when he apparently went to work in the tissue sectioning lab (to make microscope slides) and wouldn't listen to my friend's expert advice, and proceeded to totally screw up the slides despite his assurances that "I've been doing this for years".

This and the "Brush with death" thread have made me realize just how charmed a life I really lead.

Now, karma's a b-witch, so I'll probably get into a car accident tomorrow. If so, I guess... been fun!

Most of my problems over the years have been with my bosses, generally because of grumpiness or expedient rule changes that leave you feeling like you're on shifting sands all the time. I've never had to work with someone who really got up my nose and I count myself very fortunate to have had a selection of really top lads/lasses as colleagues.

My job is about to end in ten days. I will be redundant after nearly 8 years.So I've spent the last few weeks being very honest with everyone I come across. Big plus point. That, and not doing any work.Hopefully I'm off to Uni in a few months to do a 'professional degree' that has a better paid job at the end of it.It's quite nice to really not give a s**t

One of my bosses complained to me when I dislocated my shoulder once and I couldn't go in for a sales meeting. Considering we had the meetings once a month, emailed updates every day and were always available on the phone I really didn't see her point.

My nemesis has to be in my work experience placement years ago. I was in a shop about fishing and wanted to give it a good go. The manager seemed odd - he didn't want me walking upstairs to carry boxes in case I was unable to walk down stairs without killing myself - and he gave me a little easy job to start off with, just packaging little plastic rings. I had just finished when he walks in and shouts at me for lazing about and wasting time when I had only just finished. As the days passed he slowly gave me fewer and fewer jobs to do until I was just standing around from 8am to 6pm. Oh actually he once got me to make the tea! I did it exactly how he wanted and he drank it saying it was okay. A few hours later I overhear him whingeing to his employee at how bad I was at making tea.

There are very few people who I strongly dislike. Someone's got to be really bad for me to feel that way. Maybe it's because I'm too nice


There's an old guy in one of my figure drawing classes who smells like cat piss. I can't begin to describe how truly terrible the smell is. It's as if every animal in every pet store in the world has gone to the bathroom in his wardrobe. I can't even focus when he is in the room, the smell is so bad. One time I had gladly taken four flights of stars instead of getting in an elevator that he had been in (He wasn't even in the elevator at the time, but his smell had lingered for who knows how long).

i was someone's nemesis

many years ago there was a certain female sgt in the unit who pissed me off on a level that only a true believer in khorne could understand. i set a campeign of terror in motion.
1. the only female toilet in the place suddenly developed an invisible force field of cling film preventing anything from going down the bend (liquid or solid apparently).
2. whilst away on a unit training course the usual major pi*^up kicked off she ended up completely wrote off, she awoke the next morning with a condom (larger and lime flavoured) with imperial leather shower gel in it at the bottom of her sleeping bag, to this day she doesnt know if she did or didnt shack up with someone.
