Hey Cassar,

Would you recommend pullups or lateral pulldowns for working the upper back? As a fellow gym-rat I figure you might have some insight.

both are okay the lateral pulldowns are good for the lat's shoulders n shoulder blades, the pull ups are good for arms and shoulders. you should also try bent over row's with the curl bar your body position should be something akin to that of a down hill skier you then raise the bar from your ankles to your chest keeping the torso parrallel to the floor, also seated row's are good if you have the equipment there. you could also try bent over flies same position as the row's only you use the dumbells and raise your arms from the ankle out from your sides (9 0clock and three oclock), try to push the dumbells slightly higher than the level of the shoulders for the extra pull. a good all rounder(complete upper body, the zen excercise "one with everything") and one i use to finish off my routines is take the 20 kilo plate hold it at arms length (slight bend at the elbow) then raise it from your thigh's above your head keeping the arms straight once its verticle above your head bend the arms until the plate touches your back (like a tricep curl) then straighten up the arms and bring them forward and down to the thighs keeping the arms straight three sets of seven reps.

my job ends on Friday with no work after,

Sorry to hear that. Hope things are better there than they are here. I'm on my14th month of looking for work. Idleness loses its allure after a bit;somewhere around the time the money starts running out.

165 x 5 is v good. I have 150 x 3 but I only weigh 80kg (12.5 stone)

Yeah nothing builds upper/middle back like rowing. I also recommend face pulls for rear delts (rarely used exercise). For width, deadlifts are king. Every exercise has it's place. It really depends on your weakness.

Oh, what made my day? Seeing my 11 month old Son of course :D (and training legs in the gym >> extentions, leg press, front squat, walking lunges, leg curl, straight legged deadlifts, hamflexor, seated/standing/donkey calves!)

I have some 'temp work' to fill in, so that's something at least and theres a few commissions coming in. Money wise I think I'll be OK. I still have to move :( At least the 'Man Flu' has gone (apart from coughing up squigs and oysters).

Nothing! My day has been shite so far and getting worse. Have man flu, my job ends on Friday with no work after, I have an enforced move at the weekend that I don't want and did I say I had man-flu? I must do something about it. I'm still happy???

Let's hear some more! What the hell is going on to put you in that position?

I have no idea what my physical abilities are. I don't measure them.
I'm quite strong, but couldn't tell you what I can bench, or press, or whatever.
I'll never be known for record times or lifts.
But I picked up a paint brush today, and almost used it!
It was a near thing...

chihuahua's is it true that if you sneak up on a chihuahua and pull its tale or give it a fright its eye's will pop out?

bears make themselves constipated before they hibernate by eating dirt, straw, twigs etc apparently it forms a bung. a new meaning for feeling bunged up.
