Greets ...

I'm currently doing my own chapter and I would like to receive some comments ... I just added some pictures so you can see what I mean.

I'll add more.

Nice but your minis need to be a lot more blended, as for the highlights than for the shades. You also could highlight more some areas.

Chaplain

Yeah, I know ... chaplains should be black ... but then they will not fit the army pattern - so I decided to do more of the capter heraldics only leaving arms and legs in black (shaded to a dark gray). (same style like the scriptor).

Hope you like them (comments and hints are welcome)

Regards

DaMatze

P.S. only armor is painted (staff and other things will follow soon) - same for the other ones.

Does someone have hints about highlighting vehicles? the areas are flat - I have no idea how to shade them.

Cheers

Question ... I wonder how to shade a shield ...

this is my first try for storm-shield

s1.jpg

What I did (as with all other minis)

sprayed in chaos black + debrised with skull white spray
thin layer of dark angel green
+ 2:1 layer of dark angel + snot green
+ 1:1 layer of dark angel + snot green
+ layer of snot green
+ 2:1 layer of snot green + scorpion green
+ thin layer snot green for smothing
+ 1:1 layer of snot green + scorpion green
+ highlight with scorpion green

same combo for snakebite leather + bleached bone + skull white for the bone parts (*g*)

painted eagle and struff with deneb stone and the sword with astronomican gray. the robe is painted merchite red
+ gryphon sephia wash all
+ badab black wash for sword

so no layers or highlights there

Could you give me more hints? (I added more pics meanwhile - maybe on the pics you might describe) - please also note, that the real mini looks more shaded than the photo - i tried to make some pics from a WIP termi as comparison.

Cheers

For the highlights, it's for the beige armour, you have to highlight almost until pure white for the brighter spots. The shading is for the blue armour of the librarian and the helmet of the chaplain. I also think you could highlight the grey parts of the chaplain. Your green is nice.

Thans for the compliment *g*

Okay ... the white thing ... I Painted outside darker and only the high spots with some white thing. I'll provide detailed pictures of the scriptor (same like the chaplain) and try more white on the next termi.

How would you shade the blue? I did the foundation fenris grey + mixed with ultra marines blue + enchanted blue + iced blue as highlight (same style like with the green ones).

Will report back in one or two days ... until I finish.
