I know that this horse has probably been beat to death more than once, but with that said I am asking specifically towards my basing what do I need to do to get the bases I need, not the one I am currently doing. Help please.

..... what do I need to do to get the bases I need.....
Ok Crystal Ball Technology not withstanding, from your previous Red Devils thread I'm taking this as a plea to assist you in defining what will help improve your bases.
I think that we need to get some more info out of you on your intent though.
For example are you looking to go towards Jarheads level of complexity, into storytelling bases or just away from gravel coated gaming look bases?

But one of the simplest things I can recommend is to look towards manufacturers bases such as :
Dragon Forge Design www.dragonforgedesign.com
Foundations of War www.foundationsofwar.co.uk
Fenris bases www.hasslefreeminiatures.com
These are your stepping stones to making yourself more content (perhaps not the bank manager).

Overall if the concept of premade bases doesn't work for you then its time to look at a BASES101 course and get ready to do the self made base route. (lotsa fun and messy too..go on you know your inner child wants to get covered in goopy glue)
Coolminiornot's articles are a Wealth of info (and readily availible):
http://www.coolminiornot.com/article/aid/553
http://www.coolminiornot.com/article/aid/495
http://www.coolminiornot.com/article/aid/449
Are just a sample.

But you've made the most important step you can..asking for advice.

Assuming you are refering to the Red Devils you recently completed here are tips to help with regard to their bases.

The different areas - grass / gravel / clumps- look too neat and too regular. In some of the pics the bases looks a bit like pie charts... in that you have regular segments all radiating from the center of the base. In most of your bases you have dead straight lines marking the edge of one type of material from another. Nature is very rarely regular in that way. The areas of gravel and grass could also do with some extra washes or something just to dirty them down or at least give some extra definition.

Personally I would use clumps as random round growths, rather than as strips, to help break up the lines where your gravel and grass meet.

the base in these pictures was made after taking a thorough look at several tutorials on the site, two contemplating trips through the local forest to see how the moss grows etc, a third and final material gathering trip through the same forest and lastly a good deal of time spent at the desk trying to make everything fit together nicely.
before this, i made no basing more elaborate than a layer of painted sand and perhaps a rock covered by static grass. Watching these tutorials have really revolutionized my method of basing minis! Thanks for directing me to them :)
