Yep Blood Doners don't get enough priase.NSA is my "Hero"
O + here - funny story though - was going through Baghdad one time and had it on my flack jacket on a piece of tape - this girl was staring at the tape and I said "You've never seen someone with tape on their flack?" She said she'd never seen someone with their blood type on their flack
There's a good chance they have to test it anyway, since it's not an official confirmation of your blood type. Some guy could write it wrong and end up in hemolysis, and everybody would get in trouble. I read that back in WW2 the Waffen SS (ick) had their blood types tattoed on their arm, but in that case, it was tattooed on by the same medic who tested their type! A lot more reliable.
Oh the opportunities for smutty jokes....Tee HeeThanks to years of geekish clean living and no recent travel to exotic parts of the world, donation is something I'm "good at"
................In a theatre the medics aren't going to be too worried about checking blood type to see if it's a proper match, for obvious reasons. Kinda find that hard to accept with the level of medical training in our forces. But without hard proof to the contrary will have to take it with a "Pinch of Salt"
Rather be infused with the wrong blood than bleed out in a sand box tbh. Neither are pleasant situations, but if I recall my biology correctly some "mixed blood type" reactions can cause rapid unstable coagulation/clotting and high risk of thrombosis.
Excellent, go you. I got the Irish award for 50 (we're allowed to give four times a year I think) and was eagerly heading toward the porcelain pelican for 100 donations when I had to stop due to a false-positive result for some obscure Asian virus. Not to brag but I'm a 33-time donor![]()
The last thing I donated was my bone marrow. Knocked out, flipped over, pants down (oo eer) tapped into my iliac crest and removed 1.37 ltr of 'fluids' (they could take 1.4 ltr max). People say it's really painful, its not. I think people should go ahead and put themselves on the register - its very worth while. There is only a slim chance of you being called up.
