ok im really liking dating especially a nice girl named stacy, who's a nurse. but im noticing im not buying miniatures anymore? :( i mean i think i might cry. i havent painted anything in 2 weeks. i should feel bad, but come on man..... ITS A GIRL!!!!

anyone else have this problem?

btw: she likes white castle, plays drunken risk, and rocks out at gear of war 2.

There's nothing wrong with putting your hobby on hold when you first start dating a person. Should you two get more serious then it would seem natural that you slowly return to the hobby. I mean, she should know the person that she's getting involved with, and part of you is your hobby. But if she despises the hobby and you care enough about her... ::shrug::

I guess you should just play it by ear and go with whatever feels right.

To answer your question:

No, it hasn't happened. Every girlfriend I've had has either tolerated my passion for miniatures, or has enjoyed it. Maybe I'm lucky, or maybe I'm just drawn to the more open-minded types.

There is nothing to bother for. I stopped painting for about 6 years or so and now all of a sudden started again and my girl is tolerating it.

Yeah, I could see explaining to the new girlfriend that "Sorry Honey, but I have to finish this little mini battle build off thing. Only like half the geek/mini world is waiting on the outcome. Then we can go out to dinner." Yeah, she would totally be down for that.......

My girlfriend doesn't like minis so she tries to keep me far away from painting but I said her I would paint her a mini that is no violent and with a poetic idea so now she allows me to paint.

Ah, I wished that worked for me... At least my fiancee doesn't actively discourage me painting!

But there's no reason why two people who are together have to share every single interest. You just have to respect each other's separate endeavours, and that does mean reciprocally! Though if you share a hobby the nice thing is that you can motivate each other.

When lust is fresh, and the heart is warmed by the merest thought of your lady, then it is natural for painting, or almost any hobby, to lose importance.
I suggest (and this is what I do) going with the flow, and show your work to her if you're proud of it.
I'm between dating partners right now, but a couple of mine are now commission customers, even though there was no chemistry between us, relationship-wise.

I somehow keep hooking up with closet gamer-chicks.

Girl first, then marriage, then kid (Son's work good.. HE REALLY WANTS TO PAINT MINIS TOO), painting comes back :D
