i dont know if any of you watch Legend of the Seeker (or LOTS as fans like to call it) but i was hoping to generate some support amongst like minded folks. IMHO its the best fantasy show on TV, and it hasnt gotten picked up for season 3. it deserves another season (it certainly has the fan base, but ABC/disney sucks) and there are interested parties (syfy channel).

there is a decent sized movement amongst the fans that is getting some notice at the studios, and even terry goodkind (writer of the Sword of Truth series that the show is loosely based on) has thrown his hat in the ring. so... help us out! write a letter if you Like the show!

Save the Seeker!

P.S. if you havent seen it, or dismissed it cuz it looked cheesy - give it a chance! even my wife loves LOTS.

I haven't seen it, but to be honest I'm too big a fan of the books to want to see this series.

The books were great, and I don't feel like mucking up my memories with this series. There are other shows I'd sooner see revived that aren't copying off of the existing reference material that has been so successful.

Don't get me wrong, I advocate for shows I want to see continue. Firefly was a notable one. But Legend of the Seeker isn't going to be one of them. Best of luck to you though in campaigning. I sincerely hope you manage to sway the producers in favor of keeping it.

I've watched it, not too bad, doesn't follow the book well, but as pure fantasy nice ........ anyone watch the young Merlin?

yeah, its not really like the books at all (which really are great), merely inspired by them, but i appreciate it as its own thing. i tend not to care if a show diverges from source material so long as its entertaining. there arent very many fantasy TV shows out there, so ive got to rep for the few threre are. im sure they'll replace the time slot with 1) a "reality" tv show about a bunch of rich douchbags bickering about socialite events 2) a medical melodrama 3) a "family" melodrama or 4) a "mysterious" contemporary drama.

ive seen merlin, but its a bit....dry IMHO. other than that, what is there *edit: as far as fantasy tv is concerned*? a big fat nothing.

P.S. i realize its stupid to fight for a T.V. show, but i fight for more meaningful stuff all the time, and even superheros take a night off to watch the boob tube. id like something to watch on that night off....

not really stupid, I was in a write-in and the fans saved the show for another couple years, so it does work

Honestly, I think it's a horrible series based on some of the blandest fantasy books around. I might give Terry another chance though, as I've only read one of the books and that was more then ten years ago, but I've given this series five or six chances and no. I honestly appreciate Xena much more (same producer) because it doesn't take itself seriously. This series only make me cringe in the worst kind of manner.

However if it's got a lot of fans that do like it I'm all for saving it on air. I can always switch channel and at least it's got magic in it. lol

Thanks Sven; I was beginning to believe I was alone in thinking "Meh!"
Never read the books, just didn't interest me in exactly the same way that G.R.R. Martin's stuff doesn't interest me.

If the TV-series include the part with the frightening possessed/demonic chicken I say it should be saved - otherwise not.

The books are horrible!

I liked the first two books. Fast paced epic fantasy is a rarity I find. I loved that the second book took place abotu a half hour after the first. And then....

I think Terry Goodkind took 9/11 REALLY hard!!! And the demonic chicken... sorry.... "Chicken that is not a chicken" really didn't help sell me on the rest of hte series. Though I read them out of a sense of completion.

But it is nice to see someone trying to rally support for something they like! Me I'll wait for the "Song of Ice and fire" series to come out. Whenever the hell that's supposed to be.

ok, saying the books are "great" is certainly an exaggeration. in fact, ive only read part of one, and id say it was enetertaining, but far from great literature. LOTS does leave a lot to be desired, but i think its the best fantasy TV show ive seen to date (that wasnt a cartoon). i am very happy that they didnt go the xena/herculies route with it and totally camp it up. those shows neary ruined the genre for me. i prefer a more serious tone. of course, if they keep cancelling the few fantasy shows we have, then well NEVER get anything good. ever. its strange to me - fantasy movies do quite well, and are definitely popular, but no one has been able to put together a truely amazing fantasy show that does well. plenty of scifi thats great, but almost no fantasy. no one will want to fund the genre if they think its doomed to failure. LOTS is the best weve got, and i enjoy it. id love to see some very gritty and dark fantasy, instead of the overacted melodrama that it usually is, but those are pipe dreams.t

Different people, different tastes. I still can't get my girlfriend to read any fantasy aside from Brian Jacques' Redwall series.

To be fair, a lot of Goodkind's personal philosophy has been instilled in the books. Since he's an objectivist (or maybe he was some other branch of objectivism) he tends to use a lot of Ayn Rand influence. Take "Faith of the Fallen" for example. Some people love reading this kind of thing. I personally love reading it. Other's don't. Honestly I thought his series was a far cry better than Robert Jordan's "Wheel of Time" which has yet to be completed.

To be fair on Jordan he did die a couple of years ago , so I would imagine he´s suffering from a rather large writers block :p

Such a layabout! :p

But he did start to ramble on in his later books, and he opened far too many plot threads.

Agree completely! (allthough the latest book - which was done based on jordans extensive notes made before his death - have picked up the pace a bit)
