dfb: can tell you i feel exactly the same when it come to sculpting after seeing the awesome stuff over here. its a bit downbeating when my own shitt looks like something made by a 2yr old...

lyuun: thanks! believe me man the vivid undercoats are not something ive been working on, but mostly i paint with no real plan (and obviously like to make things hard for myself...). i just work with lots of colours until i find the one im happy with. glazing to death, sort of.

Congrats on getting him done Skel, there seems to be a mini-revival of Minotaurs going about as everyone scrambles to find something to rinse their mind of the hideous versions GW recently proffered.
I can't help feeling that if I could just hold him in my hand (I promise not to run off) I'd see a lot more than your photos are offering. I'd weep in frustration for you if I wasn't so dried out from my own camera torment!

tell me about it B, i really hate the photographing part of this hobby. i wish i just could send the mini away so someone could take better photos. damn!
yeah after seeing more photos of gw minotaurs i think i skip painting one of those, the sculpts are simply terrible.

Skelettet that minatour is amazing, and I have to say the skin is my favorite part of it. The dark undertone to it really helps the other aspects of the model shine out. I am excited to see your next progect and agree that GW just did a terrible job on their sculpts for minatours.

actually i had plans for painting the new doombulls, just to show it actually can be cool with a somewhat more proper paintjob, but there are tons of cooler minos out there. ive ordered one of scibors new, they are awesome imo. but first, a tyranid project...

Great job Skelettet! I love your rotten cow! The snow base turned out really well especially considering you hadn't tried it before. The blood drips and the icicles hanging down the side really make it. Pics are a bit dark though. With your ability you should want to show us more! But I agree about the photography part. I'm not so good at it either, and hate to spend a ton of time trying to get a good pic when you could be painting instead.

man thats exactly how i feel. i think it took me 3-4h to get these pictures and yet there are more to ask for, and could painted half a mini in that time instead (well, sort of..). sigh. oh well.

ok i think ive been slacking off a bit after the ahnamoth mini, but at least the little swordguy has been painted (proof included in bottom pic ). that tyranid trygon project have to wait a bit, the scibor minotaur just arrived and i fell so totally in love with it the guy is massive and larger than i expected! :good:
lots of work already with the prep. the cast is pretty good/great overall but at some places the mouldline was rather heavy. and as usual im close to cut my finger off!!

I'm actually not painting minis, just parts to try some things. I'm also trying to paint marines but I start thinking I'll never be able to paint one without getting bored while. I also have a lotr diorama idea that I may start soon in a wip thread so I hope you won't have to wait much longer.
The skin colour of your mini's great maybe just add some blue in the shades.

i did want to make the tattoos so big that they take over the model, but i felt he needed someting there to make him more 'interresting'. actually the skin is more or less finished at the torso, even it you still can find some traces of that scorched brown basecolour
