Johannes Mehserle verdict

Is anyone else expecting serious trouble if Johannes Mehserle gets less than the max. I live about an hour from Oakland which sounds as if it's cocked and loaded to EXPLODE if things don't turn out how they want. I'm not debating the trial but just curious about the possible aftermath.

This won't make any sense if you aren't from the SF Bay Area. A local story that could gotten 'real big.' A subway cop (accidentally, deliberately, or something in between) shot and killed an unarmed black fellow in the back. There's a vibe that this could be the spark to light another 'Rodney King type riot.' There's been some racial tension up here where I live and I'm going to be listening to the radio real close this Tuesday.

That's my concern is the mentality of 'burn baby burn'...................wherever. I live about a mile from a large part of town that has actually been on national TV for some rioting. I hear gunshots when I'm going to bed frequently. The California of the Beach Boys was just in a song.

Racial tensions are high everywhere. And most of it is just a powder keg looking for a random spark.

I hadn't heard about this case until now. Not sure why that cop pulled his gun at all. It was an ugly situation, but it seemed the cops had it under control.

I think the guy pulled the trigger by accident. Not that that is an excuse for his guilt.

I hope justice is served, and not swayed by the threat of more violence.

Yikes man. I hope for everyone's sake that things do not turn violent. If they do, keep your head low and your gun close at hand.
