Well, in a completely unofficial and anonymous ballot...

Have you ever sniped a submission.

(the definition of sniping here being intentionally voting very low on a minature for that deserves a higher rating)

This is your chance at cleansing your soul.

The vote is anonymous, however, any comments you say here are your own!

I don't vote often as the gallery is just too huge to go through anymore. There was a golden age where I had voted on every model posted here... that was a LONG time ago :D

But yeah there's been a few cases of "sniping" or maybe a better term is "market correction." When I see a piece of crap model that's listed for way too much money on eBay and has a 9.2 average when it's clearly a 7-8, and has far too many votes for the 2-3 days it's been online, then I tend to give it a lower mark to help bump it down a notch. Giving a 1 is stupid since filters will check for outliers, but maybe a 4 or something will help take it down a peg.

I get pretty pissed when I see vote manipulation like that.

sure have. on occasion i run across a mini with a grossly inflated score and heaps of praise for what i consider to be an ok, but not fantastic, mini. if i feel loopy ill give it a point less than id otherwise think it to be (which i consider to be sniping).
why? kharmic justice i guess.
sometimes ill give an expertly painted mini a low score, if i really dont think its cool or like the subject matter (just like ill vote up a poorly painted mini that has some especially clever element). that could be constued as sniping, but since i give it the score i think it deserves based upon my own "coolness" aesthetic, i dont hink it really is.

oh! i do remembe3r desinctly sniping someone wickedly! i was von a voting tear and i saw a few comments by the same guy needlessly depricating others minis (very nast comments about minis i quite liked), so i took a look at his gallery. needless to say i was not impressed by his single "space douch" mini which was sickeningly overrated (i know nurglee is supposed to look like shit, but it was crap). i was greatly satisfied by the snipe.

Haven't sniped down but if I thought some piece was WAY too low I would give it a 10 just to kick the overall score a tad higher.

On eBay I snipe EVERY auction I bid on. I view auctions as a contest and if I get 'out sniped' then so be it. I've got it down to a few easy steps and I can get a last second bid in right at the bell.

I have never been the sort to systematically punish an individual, but I have certainly given much lower scores when i think a mini is way overrated. It all balances out in the end, so it barely constitutes sniping. I do say yes to sniping though, as it makes more sense than the other answers (for me) :).

No...
If you give a low score because you do not like the style or something about the mini that's just your judging criteria, not sniping.
On the other hand is you look at a mini and go ....oh that's so and so's mini, he's a real basticho so I'm nail him with a 1 because you can not find the zero button, not considering the quality...that's a snipe.

I haven't voted on much more than 1% of the gallery, at best, but no. I don't snipe. Like freakinacage, I judge pretty harshly, though. And I expect the same in return.
Now, if only I could get submissions into my gallery.
I've come to the conclusion that cameras and me just don't mix. I've broken another one.

I was going to say, "Only once, back in November of 1963. They blamed it on some guy in a library" but I decided it'd be in bad taste somehow. Plus the whole 'not alive in 63' thing probably works against the believability. :D

i was sniped hideously at one time, i was tempted to re post, but i didn't, now my mini has a respectable score cos i left it.

so now, snipe away, the true result will reveal it's self.

oh and i never have:)
