huge is good! i love the patchy look to the skin, very gross. the only thing that i think needs tidying especially is the gloves

IRL, the gloves don't look that bad..........still could have used a bit more work but that's a good example of taking a flaw, which the photo made worse and the hugeness just made even worse.

I usually kick the DPI up to 300 on my photos when I get them printed. I may have done the same with this one. In photoshop, I remember resizing it to 3 inches wide and may have left the DPI at 300. Would that make it stay huge even though I made it small?

Increasing the DPI won't really matter since all screens are at 72dpi. Bumping up the DPI only makes the image larger which could be your problem. Normally, for screen only media, put the dpi at 72 and then edit the actual dimensions (pixels).

@Jahmini's - I just got one of those Scrap Thralls. I too really like the big powerfist on him. I've really been enjoying Privateer Press stuff lately. Kind of a mix between GW's straight forward sci-fi and Rackham's stylized stuff.

Yes, because a 3" image at 300ppi is 900 pixels wide while a 3" image at 72ppi is 216 pixels wide.

Resolution (in pixels per inch, PPI) and ruler dimensions interact, so for any given width or height measurement the resolution is important because it changes the pixel count - as in the above, 3 x 300 versus 3 x 72.

When doing stuff for the web, work to pixel dimensions instead and you save a lot of confusion - that way, doesn't matter what the resolution is set at you still get basically the same image (make any pic 400 pixels wide, doesn't matter if it's at 999ppi or 10ppi, it's still the same number of pixels and will display the same size in a web browser).

Thanks MUCH. This had plagued me for years and I just couldn't get it how if the image size said 3 inched that 3 inches wasn't 'obeyed', or adhered to.

that's why i loved painting for Privateer, every mini they sent me to paint hit my painting spot...
plus i was working for Mike Mcvey, who has always been my painting hero...

i look forward to seeing what you do with the Scrap Thrall...
i like your "impressionistic" painting style...
you paint with passion, instead of pure technique like i do...
your minis seem more playful than serious, more for fun than profit...
