Scooby-Doo!! Where are you?!

This was my entry for the Diorama of Doom 2008 (yes, I'm catching up on some posts!) The models are actually from Hasslefree (adventurers), Heresy (evil cat), Black Scorpion (chef) and Eolith (zombie). The competition requires you to create a cohesive scene using models from all four manufacturers

The base is a 50mm circle, which I have divided up into quarters. Each segment represent a room in the spooky mansion :tremble:

Scooby has gone missing, so the gang are trying to find him; Shaggy decides to check out the kitchen and is oblivious to the ghostly chef appearing behind him. Fred and Daphne are in the lounge - what's up with that picture?! and Velma has her nose buried in a book - the zombie can't believe his luck! But hang on......what is that cat up to? Looks like the bed has an occupant after all ;)

It was great fun to do - almost everything is scratchbuilt - and it is a very popular piece with adults and children alike at the various model shows we attend with our club.

Hope you enjoy it too :D Comments welcome as always. Linky here

What a great concept, still can't believe you fit it all on that base. I particularly like the 'Scooby cuts of meat' drawing in the kitchen :)

great work. Big fan of the cartoon as a kid. Love Sccoby's tail sticking out form under the bed.

Cheers,

Dang! I'm painting up that Scooby gang, but after seeing these, I've lost all heart.

Love this diorama!

Nooo......Vikey that's not supposed to happen. Please get them painted and up on here; they are great minis and nice and easy to get done. Having seen your Zed scene you are more than up for the job! Now get painting :highfive:

Thanks for the lovely comments guys - here and on the upload and the generous scores too. It's lovely when you hit the spot and create something that generates a lot of interest. It never ceases to amaze me just how popular Scooby is :) So much better than Scrappy-Doo ;)

Here's a top down shot for fun..

Hey...just a question here.... Did you sculpt on the 'ascott' on Freddie? I was suprised to see he didn't have one. I painted mine on, but am thinking I should redo.

That orange bow tie thing around his neck is an Ascot tie. My little guy didn't have one...

I thought it looked like your 'Freddie' (that's his name, i think) had an Ascot. At least it looks that way from one of your pics.

Did you sculpt that on, or did yours already have that as part of the cast?

Does that make more sense?

lol I was going to ask if you meant a tie :) Yes I added that in a blinding moment of sculpting genius - otherwise known as a complete fluke!

I have these and I had something in mind - but like Supervike I'm losing heart.

Love this diorama. Really well done.

ASCOT!
Ascot is either a person from across our northern border, or a Horse Racing meeting held at a racecourse situated beside the town of Ascot in Berkshire.
The thing you're talking about is a Cravat (very sloppily tied) or a scarf. (Oh sorry Bandana)

That damn English language!

Heres a Wiki article....it seems a Cravat and an Ascot are one in the same:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ascot_tie

The description even makes reference to the Scooby Character:

The character Fred Jones of the show Scooby-Doo wears an orange ascot. It was a craze in the 60s along with tye-dye shirts, bell bottoms and peace necklaces. Michael Corleone, Al Pacino's character in The Godfather, wears an ascot in a few scenes, and is pictured wearing it on some versions of the Part II DVD. Don Knotts would often wear an ascot in his role as Ralph Furley on Three's Company. Comedian Drew Hastings has been known to wear an ascot often.
