Proof of the level of pervy-ness...

So I was browsing bases in the shop directly due to the fact that CMON sent me a Cyber Monday sale email, and I happened to notice the most popular searched tags.
I look to the left side of my screen and see:

• Chinese
• Must
• Oriental
• Star Wars
• barbarian
• boobs
• breasts
• clad
• cleavage
• female
• min...!!!
• naked
• nude
• pinup
• scantily
• scantily clad
• sorceress
• thong
• topless

At first I lol 'd.
But after a second of so, it struck me, (girlfriend walked in and looked at it with a different perspective than I) that a disproportionate amount of our community's members are significantly pervy enough to settle for miniature sculpted nudey-goodness, rather than going after the real deal.

(Okay, to be honest, my girlfriend made me do it.)

What does it matter? It is the human body. there isn't anything 'pervy' about liking breast or someone's body. Even the 'upright' have these same tendencies. When we first meet our significant other, we notice their breast, lips, eyes, hips, butts...Whatever turns us on.

It's when it's directed at miniatures it becomes a little creepy.

Still I've been admiring female architecture for close to 50 years and I don't think I'll stop 'til I'm in a box.
But as a very happliy married man I have to echo a married colleagues statement:- "You can look, but you mustn't lick!"

at first i was a bit shocked, i mean, that list of tags could just as easily apply to porn.
but on second thought its not that surprising at all, T&A is big buisness in the mini world. take a look at the CMON contests for example, EVERY contest mini is a cheesecake hotty. im sure its done because sex sells minis, but im frankly more than a little tired of lead sweater cows.
in actuality, though, most mini sexuality is (surprisingly) tame. only a few rare minis could actually qualify as erotica.

To be honest, I really could care less. Not why I got into mini's but then again, there were more outlets for porn when I was growing up, so the two were separated in my mind from the start.

Along EbonB's argument, it shouldn't be considered that 'pervy'. Would you rather invest hours painting something that looks like a mix of Barbara Streissand and Carrot Top? Or would you rather paint something that looks beautiful and alluring? Don't get me wrong, there's something to be said about the art of making a piece look grotesque. It takes a fine attention to detail. If we had the choice though we'd rather look at something that's more appealing. A bit of fantasy away from reality. (though there are realists out there that chant for more femstachios and muffin-tops)

This is fairly status quo for an art based site. DeviantArt is probably worse in the level of 'perversity', but it's art. It's really only smutty or perverse if you, the individual, thinks it's smutty or perverse. Or possibly if it garnered the interest of Vike.

Oh I have nothing against Streis. But to be fair, I did say that it was a mix of Streissand and Carrot Top. One alone isn't necessarily bad, but the combination is like orange juice and toothpaste.

Ah no worries. It just stoked some serious thoughts in my mind. I'm all for the discourse, but it just seemed to legitimate a topic to disregard with only a little banter.
