Remember that Painting Horses Article we discussed?

http://www.coolminiornot.com/forums...st-your-questions-and-Pics-if-you-have-them!/

It was a long time ago. lol! It did generate interest but I couldn't get it done fast enough.

Well...I finally wrote it!

The toughest part deciding what it would cover. There is sooo much information, there is no way to put it in one article. So, if the first one is helpful, then I'll try supplemental articles.

The pics were also a stumbling block because with my techniques it's extremely difficult to paint and photograph at the same time. But I've got that taken care of now too.

The bad news is, I'm trying to figure out how to publish it to the articles section. Unfortunately, the FAQ that's there under Help...really isn't helping a whole lot. :(

What I really need to do before think about posting any articles is find out if folks are still interested. Yes? No? Don't care?

Let me know!

Cheers!

Safe to say, yes! Horses have such a wide appeal, almost all model lines have horses in them, not to mention all the horse lovers who are sort of outside of our miniature painting/gaming world here. So many table top army horses end up so plain compared to the real thing, it's a shame.

Think I'm going to go watch your youtube vid in the other thread.

Yeaup, agree on what Manes said about horses being found in so many lines. T'will indeed be a handy article for the many wo enjoy the fantasy stuff as well as the Equine pursuits of your fine self. Surprised our resident witch hasn't clocked this yet!

Freak! How are ya hun?

Thank you! And thank you Manes and Torn! I really appreciate your input.

Well, if we go ahead and do this, can anyone direct me to the appropriate help file? Like I said, the ones I was looking at in the article submission section, did not match up to what I had on the screen.

I don't mind reading and going through it, I just need the right one! lol!

ETA - Wait! Hold the phone! I think I finally found the correct search terminology that doesn't land me in the middle of every Painting Submission discussion. I'll dig a little more. :D

Kath;
Had a look in the Articles to Approve section, pretty good, but I take it it's incomplete as is.
You might find it easier to write up the whole thing in Word and then copy it over, rather than peicemeal into the article itself.

Anyhow looking forward to approving it for you.

Thanks DR! Yeah, it's a bit of experimentation. lol! I realized the same thing not long after I started messing around with it.

Then I spent almost all day writing it. Actually not WRITING, it was already done. I spent the day tweaking the code and the pics. I tried out the html writer in Open Office. I've never used that particular feature before. For the most part I love Open Office - but this drove me insane.

I read on the forums that the articles work better if you have a host like photobucket so I was changing my coding to that. It took awhile, but I was plugging right along...only to discover, halfway through, that as I was fixing it to the photobucket links, Open Office was very helpfully changing my coding right back to GIFs pointed at the directory on my 'puter.

head desk head desk

After that it was little things that cropped up...the stuff that made me say, "okay, all I have to do is fix this and I can post it," then it took me hours to find and fix the bloody thing! It's been way too long since I've done stuff like this...I'm definitely rusty. haha! Unfortunately, I'm a stickler about formatting and making the layout look nice and easy to read. So I will go back and change stuff a billion times to fix one little hiccup. Sorry, I can't help it!

Anyway, I've got a couple more tweaks I need to make. If there's anything floating in approval land, nix it because I'll be submitting it all at once when I get home from work....unless it tries to be helpful and starts changing stuff on me again. Geez that pissed me off! lol!

Cheers!

Well, it's finally uploaded and submitted....I think. Thanks to my stupid job, I'm so tired right now, I can't see straight. lol! So I'm sure I'll probably find a ton of typos tomorrow.

Well had the pleasure to approve it.
Won't get a proper chance to read through it until later.
Here's hoping everyone enjoys it.
