Wow, it's like a lot of little yellow Rockettes. Scary. :)

Cool conversion set too btw. What shade of red are you looking for?

Like this with purple and gold ect

I have not even taken delivery of the bits yet any thoughts on the marine robes.

I would thread jack the death jester but fear of a certain member might hunt me down!

I think robes would be good. I always figured on the thousand sons being very ornate mage looking types, and the robes would back that up. For the legs, maybe you could find some of the studded beaky legs from way back when? They might fit quite well with the heavily worked torso parts.

Watch out with the robes. I remember an article or post somewhere mentioning that those legs are actually 'True Scale', i.e. a bit larger than regular marine legs.

Here is a test model, red armour and will have a gold and purple headress ect.

Truescale Legs... Now I'm intrigued :)

Those fish look wild, at first I thought they were leeches....

Of course there wild id be bloody livid if i had to swim around in a tub with some dudes feet!

nice conversion by the way - but the robes i would aim for a more purple ink over a pale red base (or white depending on how light you want the overall effect) with very thin blends of purple to highlight the robes - i wouldnt highlight to such a light colour with purple it always looks a little messy in my opinion.

My skillz at painting are not that advanced yet Jkurl but i am going by the artwork on the book " A Thousand Sons".

Im going to be a scrounger, does anyone have any of the thousand sons helmets they dont need as im thinking of a terminator conversion!

You may find that you get a tidier/cleaner finish with just using a white base coat with several layers of leviathan purple washed over it - the whole thing for the first couple of coats till the highest areas are dark/light enough coloured for your taste then then several applications of the same ink but just not on the higher bits and painting it on less and less of the robes each time that way the recesses will stay dark and the tops of the folds will be really light in colour but you wont get that stark colour change of using different shades of GW paint - personally i dont think any of there purples are very compatible with each other as colours.

On a side note is it me or is there even less GW colours availible now i seem to own alot more shades than GW sell!! I have paints from every range from the Coats d'arms (Citadel) flip top lids through to the current clear pots - the scew cap bolter shell pots were shocking almost all of them are totally dried up where as the oldest stuff i have is still perfect (after a shake!) (sorry for the wee high jack ;))
