hirst4.jpg

and "wolah"! tons of great basing stuff. have to buy more of these moulds!

...two thumbs up says the little man!

also, some ogryn reinforcements. the handler which i bought at a chinese shop for about half the price (dont ask me how they do buiseness) is going to be converted with some heavier gear to fit the berzerker gang better, and only one of the three hounds is going to be used.

the boss with the drill is going to have his posé changed a bit, he reminds of the other boss too much (ok, basically the same mini.. just 3 times cheaper). i got him to a really nice price cos the drill arm is missing, im going to do some battle damage there instead.

only one ogryn left to be hunted down!

That is a lot of big guys skel. I can't wait to see what you do with them.
Also I used to have a bunch of the hirstarts molds and I agree they are really great.

Okay Skels, your little 'un looks like he can hang onto a paintbrush, I think he's ready - get him started young!!! With two creatives as parents he has a headstart!!!

Anyway, I was going to ask about these Hirst Arts moulds, obviously I ve seen them and heard of them before, but what ones have you got and what ones do you recommend (and cheapest place to get) - that question to anyone reading really......

Look forward to seeing some more fantastic brush work.....

Hi, I've started with the Field Stone Wall (#70), Field Stone Accessory (#71), Dragon's Teeth Accessory (#80) and the Large Flagstone (#265). It's sufficient to build some nice little dungeons.
For larger buildings such as castles etc. I'd recommend one of the Basic Block Moulds (#40, #100) or the Wizard's Tower (#50).

Unfortunately I can't tell you where to buy them cheapest since my last buying is some time ago.

hehe yeah dfb i shuld get him started heh, at least bruchlicking will not be a problem :D

best one i got yet is the #65 ruined tower mould, but then im not after to get stuff to build large compex buildings or dungeons, more to get some nice basig material. i think i read somewhere that there are not any retailers, you have to buy the moulds directly from hirstarts.com only (or second hand, obviously)

Yep, as far as I know, the only place to buy them new is from Hirstart. Super nice guy running the place. Has some really good tutorials on his stuff there as well. The number 40 basic block mold is also handy to have around.

Great, thanks guys I will definately be looking into getting one or two molds, or maybe even sculpting a few blocks and making my own or getting the wonderful guys at Grey Matter Figures to do some for me.

That looks rather cool now and much less mammal like. No real suggestions other what you already put forward other than maybe some for minimal dead/dying foliage would look cool but i guess you would put that in after you have painted it. Looking forward to seeing how this develops.

I love it Skels - looks interesting - there's plenty going on but the figure is not overpowered. I am looking forward to seeing this done - let the painting commence!!!

Blimey Skel, you're a sadist for taking on yet another big project :D If you want me to pop a snotling or nurgling or similarly teensy mini in the post for you to have a relaxing afternoon with, do shout up. Of course, you probably wouldn't get him done in the afternoon anyway would you? To busy preparing a mountainous base for him :rotfl:

I've seen a few of these Nurgley Ogryns on the Forgeworld website but find them quite unappealing in their base grey resin. I have plenty of faith in your ability to make them look special though :good:

FW have a pretty poor QC reputation. Were all of your casts top drawer or did you have to have some parts replaced? Any heat reshaping required?

Between you, Noddwyr & Tee it seems to be fancy base week! Good stuff.

Cheers, B.

Well done so far, looks cool.
I can see a skull - perhaps I'd add a part of a torso with ribs, partly buried already, or at least one or two larger bones?

thanks folks, any ideas appreciated!

@B; no big problem with Q of this fella, except under the upper arm wich had a huge miscast, luckily in a good place so no problem filling with milliput. havent seen anything else really, exept broken spikes and so on that always come with forgeworld stuff (wtf packaging in small plastic bags cant go right!)

wanted to turn these into a squad but now i see this guy is going to be a project of its own :D it had been nice to paint something lesser though, like one of the zillions rackam goblins i have at home.

@Dun yeah some bones, especially a ribcage had been nice, but damn i think im out! have to buy another skeleton sprue...

@Tee not a bad idea, and ive added some "wheels" from a clock at least, just to match his armory ;)

updates
different sizes of this images hurt my brain a bit, but thats how it goes saving over the original DOH! anyway some barbed wire, roots (might trim them a bit though, glue isnt dried yet) cut down the tree a bit, more skulls (its gw after all lol) and glued on the gaming base, which been prepared with magnets.

Nice one skelly, that base looks awesome. So many little details, like the roots hanging off the back in particular. Now get to painting! :p
