i lost five friends in one night to drunk driving. sad really. but roger eberts response imho was unwarranted. where he tweeted, "friends dont let jackasses drive drunk" about an hour after it happened. screw that. its sad, its bad that it happened, but for crying out loud, dont pull that crap. frickin twitter and its absurdities.

I disagree. Ebert has every right to say what he did. He wasn't mocking anyones death, merely pointing out that drunken driving is stupid. If Ryan Dunn makes jerkwad choices, he deserves to have people point it out...
Now that we have a bit more of the 'facts', this guy was not only drunk, but driving in excess of 100mph. I don't want to see anyone get killed or hurt, but, if you insist on playing with fire, don't expect sympathy when you get burned.

Yeah I pretty much go with that. Like I said earlier, he killed one person and he could have killed more potentially just for the sake of his ego. Guarenteed the friends and family of his passenger are not singing his praises right now and calling him everyname under the sun, although the passenger was still daft to get in the car with him if he was drunk.

i disagree back. sorry but making comments like he did was insensitive. he made a dumb stupid choice. my friend wes did too when he killed himself and 4 other friends. but i would NOT go out making fun of their stupidity. its crass. a more approrpriate response would of been saying, "its just stupid to see what alcohol can do to people." ntm, ebert's response was BEFORE the official cause of death had been announced. i might be the only one that feels this way, but damn if i wont change my mind.

I am sort of surprised that Dunn was the first to die, from the Jackass crew. But in a way I kind of expected it since he has flipped more cars than any professional racer! I really thought Steve-O would die first, but I guess disease takes a while...
