Yes. Just good ol sunshine. The matte finish on this one wasn't quite so matte. Glad you like him. I was really pleased with how he came out.

Wow I thought using loads of daylight bulbs was hardcore but you're using space science!

I thought Finecast was all right. Other than being lighter I didn't notice much of an advantage to it or that they were better/more detailed. Flash was about the same. Mold lines were similar to pewter and there was a bit of mis-aligned/off set sides of the molding. I did find one bubble.

This isn't to say that it's bad, I just didn't find it to be anything special. This one mini, with tax, cost 26$. I had hoped for something better.

Be interested in seeing what other's experience has been.

If the prices are as high as this one then I might steer clear of them but if they're comparable and I had a choice between metal and resin it's hard to say which I'd choose. I haven't seen enough to judge finecast fairly but if this fig was representitive then I don't see much advantage other than weight. I was expecting a much cleaner piece with more distinct details. While I didn't do a side by side comparison of this fig against a pewter one but nothing about it struck me as 'Oh man, that is so sweet!!!'. All this isn,t to say that it's a bad fig.....it was a good fig, just nothing special.

Are you asking if, on average, the finecast models are more expensive than the old metals? There was on average ~20% hike with a a bunch of outliers on both sides. I can find you links to some large SBS comparisons if you'd like to have a geez rather than my hazy/lazy recollection

Now, a bit of a comparison. I just bought a Tyranid Pyrovore cast in metal. I found it, overall, to be much cleaner casting. The mold alingment was a bit better. Some of the tiny detail was slightly 'softer'....not as crisp. I find the metal on the whole to be a better casting. Still, the Finecast weren't BAD, they were good, just the metal one (at least this one) is a bit better..........IMHO.

hey, this is a slightly older thread but i wanted to throw in my 2 cents on the finecast debate. i feel that a) sinse the big release the quality of fine cast has improved drastically b) yes they are more expensive now which sucks as they were very expensive to begin with but i have bought a few and would deffinetly buy another as the quality of cast has improved over that of the pewter and c) the biggest appeal to me with finecast is the easy cleanup. i've been buying and modeling gw mini's for over 12 years and i dont think ive ever had a pewter model that came free of mold lines or flash. that being said the fine cast still have mold lines and flash but its one hell of alot easier shaving it off of resin then it is pewter.

anyway, just my thoughts.
