y'know. Me too. I really do. Not just painting, but the gaming side of things is great, too. I came out here 8 years ago and didnt know a single person. Now I have a better social life than my wife does, and it's purely down the fact that 7 years ago I happened to catch a glimpse of "Realm of Chaos: Slaves to Darkness" in my area trainer's bag. We got to talking about minis and gaming, I mentioned I could probably get my Blood Bowl teamed shipped over if he wanted a game, and now here I am with plenty of good mates, and also a very relaxing yet constructive creative outlet.

Big vote of "yay!" for this site, too. As a repository of arcane painting lore it is irreplaceable, and the people who post here are the nicest folks you could hope for. Big up nuff respec' to the CMoN posse :D

Nice! Nice! that's almost like calling a mini CUTE!
Do it right, go overboard in your praise........Some of the people who use this site are Fantastic, Gold Embossed Diploma Carrying, Figues of Awsomeness and then Vikey's pretty good as well.

Chasing an air filled piece of animal skin over a painted grass field, in clothes so varying in colour they'd make a gypsy embarrassed. yeah, talk about weird.

This is good weather ti stay at home and paint minis.... from heat wave to gloomy OMG its gonna rain (i hear the thunder), I don't want to go to work! Some one go for me!

Yup, the people here have certainly kept me enthused to keep painting and learning new things. I think miniature painting/modelling/sculpting is a brilliant "hobby" that allows you to escape from the horrors of the real world and to unwind at the end of a day. The forums here are almost like going out to the pub with mates you've known for years.

Best of all this is a hobby (aka life style) which you actually have something you can show to people, unlike playing a computer game every evening! There's just a warm glow being able to show family, friends & CMoN people something you've spent time doing and then to be genuinely interested and complimentary about it.

My friends and family think painting minis is great. You get oooooow look at the little face, aaaaahhhh look at the grass on the base, don't know how you have the patience and so on.
Except my dad who thinks we are all nutters and if you've got time to paint little 'dolls', you're not 'working hard enough' LOL (pay him no mind, he's old) LOL :)

It was too many years ago that I first put paint to a mini and I love it more now than ever............maybe it because my wife finally gave me space for a dedicated games room that is not hidden away in the attic or some other dungeon in the house....lol This hobby has been my work and my fun for many years and I hope to keep it that way!!!!!!!!

I really hope I can continue with the hobby till the day I bite the dust. Even if my later minis will look more like impressionistic art. :D
What brings me the most joy, are the amazed looks of people who are normally not into this hobby. When they start to discuss why, how or what I have done to build one of my projects. :) These are the best moments (aside of the "building-process" :) )...
But I recognise one bad tendency in my work lately: The projects are getting bigger and bigger! Oh gosh, soon I need a bigger house! LOL

I've been into the hobby since I got Heroquest for Christmas when I was just 8. In the 22 years that have followed I've drifted away at times, but I always end up coming back. There are very few things in life that are so simple and basic and at the same time, so full of possibility and open to creativity. The work of masters inspires me, the work of newbies makes me think back fondly to when I was starting out, and the gradual, steady output of my own models is one of the most unusually rewarding things.

This hobby is pretty great really. :)

And CMoN is still a cool place to visit, even though I barely recognise a lot of the people with post counts in the 1,000s these days. And perhaps nobody recognises me either, but it's all good, because most folks here are unusually friendly and lacking in trollishness. What a crazy internet world we live in! :D

It was hard for me to get into this thread, I mean after that third line by CFWheeler I sorta lost interest.
