Displaying miniatures at home...what do you use?

I am slowly building up a large collection of my own painted miniatures and was wondering what others here use to display their works of art that are not sold? Right now I am using small plastic display cases that are usually used for model cars, but I would like something I can put in my living room.

I am looking for ideas for wall hung shelves or floor cases. I would like either links to on-line stores where I could buy some cases, or even links to easy DIY patterns for simple cases or shelves. With or without lighting is fine.

I tried searching the forums for a topic like this but couldn't find any.

I use IKEA Detwolf vitrine.

they cost 40 euros and have 4 shelves for minis. I have 3 of them so far, but I'd need another 2 The 1/6 'minis' take up a lot of space.

ohh I forgot: they can be bought with and without lamps.

I use type setter's drawers - antique store finds.

Various sizes will hold most minis. That one would have to be rotated 90 degrees

It's very rare that I'll display anything as most of my completed pieces are 'gaming' so live in a cupboard in what is my 'office'. I do have an Argos glass display unit, but it's open sided so tends to collect dust.

@Spacemunki - OOOO I want one of those! Have the perfect sized space in the living room... Shame that the closest Ikea is miles away from me

This is what I use also. They are great and quite cheap. Also they look rather nice

I use a shot glass display case. Its wall mounted and has dividers pefect for 25mm-54mm sized models.

Spacemunkie: could you tell me the name of that wall-mounted one? For 28-54mm minis it looks much better (on the ones I have, my problem is, that it's great for 1/6 but wastes space for 28mm minis.)

I third that request, but I suspect it may be out of production. Had a bit of a scour of the Ikea site and couldn't see it.

Look under Billy range. (Took me a while to find it).

Sadly I have a purpose made wall mounted cabinet in my painting room.
Why sadly you ask:
A) Its Full
B) The guy who made it has long since retired.
C) I can barely get near it.

So most of my Painted Mini's are either;-
Gaming and therefore in game packs (Feldherr .... The dogs danglies: http://www.feldherr.net/uk/ )
or Competition transport boxes (The Really Useful box company http://www.reallyusefulproducts.co.uk/uk/html/onlineshop/fullrange_rub.php)
and in the IITS room (IITS = Its In There Somewhere)
