Fairly pleased with this fellow. Not thrilled.....can't quite put my finger on what's the problem.
I think I understand what you are saying here, there's something that doesn't make it "pop" and I'm not 100% sure what it is.
Perhaps the shadows are not strong enough and (although it could be the picture) it does look 'cold' ie no 'Warm' tones.

It's certainly a nice paint job. I'm kind of wondering if maybe it needs a little more in the way of pingy highlights? Maybe taking down the shadows, as Dragonsreach suggested would achieve the same effect. I think it may be a lack of contrasting colour/shades. Difficult to put the finger on, tbh.

btw, while I'm here, I want to thank you for those tutorials you did (a good long while ago) on OSL. They cleared up a lot of things I didn't quite understand. Verra informative, they were, so thank you *tips cap in Shawn's direction* :)

Painting looks ok, but I would recomend not cutting the background off. It really looks quite strange.

I wondered about highlighting the blue more...........oh well, next time around. Glad the tutorial helped. OSL can really be a hoot. I'll have to check your gallery.
