Holy crap...That's a job and a half you've geared up for. Best of luck with it, i'd be senile within a week, muttering about thrown tracks, reloading times and shouting obscenities in my sleep...
Cracking start though! I'd expected a winter cammo scheme, never thought on a goldy bronze... Works though!

I wouldn't have guessed a bronze either, looks great on them. I do am a bit puzzled by the colour of the weathering & mud. It looks like they've driven through wet cement...

should it be darker? I was going for more of a city rubble look as opposed to muddy fields

Well for city rubble there should be alot less. City rubble is a lot drier enviroment so a coat of dust on the bottom would look the best. With the heavy texture you have on them it looks like heavy mud, in which case it should be alot darker and more brown then grey.

It looks like dried mud. The color of the mud is determined predominantly by the color of the soil. In North Carolina you get that greyish mud. In Virginia it's more of a reddish clay. Since these are on a battlefiled in the grim far future, who's to say what color the soil is? Only thing I am sure of, they did not go through the purple swamps of Isstvan VII

Good point, sci-fi, anything goes and soil come is many a colour. And in any case it's very well executed, so the colour is secondary. ;)

Nah, that's just the false sense of security before we knock you down like a little b*tch. Huah!
Carry on. ;)

If you want to talk about the colour of the dust/ mud; it is possible to come up with a scenario that gives that type of look - after 9-11 when the towers came down there was one heck of a lot of concrete dust....if it had rained the day after, that dust would have turned into grey sludge. In the 40K book "Dead Men Walking" the IG basically destroy a hive city from the outside in....levelling the city blocks to create a wide road way in to the center, where some Necrons had woken up. That sort of wholesale demolision would have created so much dust. A bit of rain and hay presto - grey sludge.

That aside unless the particular scenario is clearly presented most people will expect to see what they will know happens in real life on a day to day basis and will judge accordingly.. so yes you may get mud that colour but the vast majority of people will expect to see it as a shade of brown rather than grey.

Maybe if you said it was set on a planet with ash wastelands as opposed to a city fight it would seem right to most people.

Well i can see the idea, but they just look like fantasy ogres with guns....and the hats and beard just looks wrong somehow.

I like the guns and beards, personally. You definitely need to do more work on the body/clothes, though. Maybe some GS greatcoats or something? If nothing else, get rid of the gut plates, as those just scream "ogre kingdoms".

Agreed. . Love the beards. But the gut plates are throwing it off, methinks.
