Ok folks starting a new project using that uber cool mordheim GW mini Aenur Sword of twilight. Got to be one of the best OOP about. Gonna do a display base which is a new thing for me thinking along the lines of him creeping up on a bit of warped undead using the rackham zombie dwarfs for that and a bit of cork crumbling brickwork and my new favourite-cobwebs! Possibly and here is something else new a bit of OSL. Any way here's the start with Aenur; done the sketching in of the flesh and hair and a good bit of the sword and mail. Any suggestions tips comments etc will be greatly appreciated the last project was without doubt my favourite ever mainly because of all the help and support offered. Its definately making me a better painter in my opinion!

Yet again note the trade mark raming of priceless mini into block of wood with nail technique!

Ok here we go done most of the leather and tinted the sword a slight turquoise nothing to much I hope. Also blocked in the cloak gonna go for a cammo green base and lighten it up to bleached bone with lotsa layers. Gotta do the gold and jewels yet as well. Any tips or suggestions any one?

Really like how this is shaping up but I'm not entirely sold on the face, especially the hollow between cheek, nose, and eye. I feel the contrast is extreme and it also looks like it jumps from a dark purpley brown straight to a pinkish skin tone with not much in between. Love the rest.

Yep your not wrong filtering as we speak a smoother transition. Going to keep the dark shadow under the cheek bone though but tone down the highlites a tad.

More pictures

Ok here we go got some updated pictures. done the gold and jewels toned down the highlites on the face and filtered the shadows a bit, nearly finished the cloak just got a bit more filtering to smooth the transition between shadows and base.

However need to do some free hand dum dum duuuuuuum. Problem is im a bit sh*t at it. Cant do loops the thicknes of the line always changes so I end up touching it up which effects the cloak etc underneath. Lines go wonky just about every noob problem you can imagine!

Has any one got a tutorial on it because it is definetely an area i need to work on!! And that cloak is screaming out for some free hand. Any way hope you like it and any tips or suggestions will be super!

Gonna start on the dwarf zombies soon and pretty much decided I need a big bit of warpstone going for the proper mordheim experience!

Hey, liking the face more now. Scale mail is looking very nice, gem would really pop wig a bit of gloss. As for freehand I don't know of any tutorials but my best suggestion would be to sketch out what you want to do a couple of times on paper till you get it right, then paint over your sketch a few times so your hand can learn the new types of brig strokes and then when you like how that is looking take paint to the actual piece.

Yes, this is looking really good. It might help to harmonize the piece by putting just a touch of purple from his skin into the shadows of the cloak (this is not needed it is only to harmonize). Shakes is right on about the freehand and drawing it out first on paper. You can't go into freehand scared, you have to be confident and swift with it or it will look shakey. The Jewel is very excellent also. You are really improving by massive strides sir, keep it up!

Ok with the purple to harmonise did it with the boots don't know why I didn't with the cloak should have! Will approach the free hand with more confidence. Cheers for the nice comments.

I likey! I don't know what you don't like about the freehand.

Not totaly crisp and bits of the runes are of different thickness. Hey ho maybe just being hyper critical. Other than that it's on to the zombies ....brainssss...... And get a good base and make the diorama! Been looking at some of the groundwerk ones were there is a bit of ruined arch with a few roots and what not thought it would be good. Ruined city and nature taking over elf boy and zombies hopefully it will match up.
