Just a note to you all that while painting last night I was deep into blending a NMM sword and as many of you know licking the brush makes a brilliant medium for blending. Well I was using GW paints as usual but when I got
to using some codex grey I noticed that my lips and tongue started to tingle, then withing 2-3 mins started to burn. I quickly washed my mouth out with water but the burning lasted for hours. This morning the skin on my lips has slightly blistered.

Well I know part or the reason why - the codex grey in mention was brought off ebay as a job lot of used paints a few months ago and Ive only just come round to using it. So some muppet has put something rather that water in the pot. (it didnt smell of anything like
white spirit).

So Ive thrown all the job lot paints away and will only get brand new paints from now on, a lesson for us all I think.

Hi mate, not really because ive got different batches of paints from here & there - I dont know where it came from now. So im only using brand new paints from now on. It scares me to think what people might put in them

Yes, don't lick your brushes. But most particularly never ever do it when there's still paint in the brush!

Contamination aside, there are many hidden additives in acrylic and vinyl paints and even though they are present in small amounts the risks from exposing yourself to them should not be dismissed.

Any one of the additives, or some combination of them, might be toxic to you; even if someone else appears to get away with it, with no apparent ill-effects after however many years is no guarantee that you will be so lucky.

I was tested a while ago and my body contains high amounts of a metal called antimone. When under stress or under nourished the body cant handle this contamination and the skin breaks out in an angry way.
This metal is found in paint. I never found out officially if it is the paint i use but i think it's obvious.
I'm still a brush licker.

I do my best to only lick / point the brush after rinsing it before changing color etc and at the end of a session to keep the point.

iv never put my brush in or near my mouth. seems really sick to me. my rinse water is usually a nasty colour. not to mention i use a ton of GW washes, almost all of which smell really bad.

Well I'm sure there is some kind of rude licking joke to be made somewhere in this thread, but my brain is a little fuzzy to think of it right now.

Anyway, sorry to hear about that incident, it will make me think twice. Perhaps I'll set up a spit pot and just shape it in my fingers.
