Voting numbers dropped in last year or so?

Hi folks, I was looking at an old thread from Kaple about the sniping of scores on the gallery votes etc. this post was from 2004, I was looking for some advice about running Kaples DVD on windows 7.

Anyway I read that you need 50 votes for your miniature score to effect your overall rating. Now I really use C'MON as a way of getting constructive criticism etc, but the votes are useful to gauge where you are etc, however my last 9 pictures are all sitting at about 47-49 votes, where pics I used to post would get about 85 votes on average.

Is this due to less people voting nowadays or less on the site, I realise there are thousands of pics and not everyone is going to vote on all pics etc, but I just thought it was odd that my pics are sitting just on the cusp of being counted etc. just thought it was odd is all.

Anyone else found this that votes are a lot less on their submissions nowadays?

I have voted on 1001 out of 172272 minis... one hundred and seventy-two thousand minis!

I think the voting members / images ratio needs to be accounted for. I don't know how many images there were in 2004.

I think many kinds of activity are down on the site and voting might be one of them; squidders might also be correct in that the higher number of gallery entries makes it harder now than it once was for things to get past the 50-vote mark.

Best way if you want votes is to pimp your stuff in Discuss Submissions. Also a much better way to get critique since people are more likely to give you feedback on negative aspects, where the comments underneath entries are mostly positive comments.

Yeah the discuss submission section is where I would go for advice and thoughts. Was just surprised the voting numbers had reduced as much as even a year or so ago

Yep I call it the godamn 49ers forever stuck 1 vote short of counting towards your ranking had some there for 8 month+ leering at me determined to give me ulcers horrid things you kind a pray for any vote even a 1 just to get done of them! Hey ho what ya gonna do though eh?
