Metal figurines..how to cut them from a metal base ?!?!?

I want to experiment with metal figurines and putting them on some custom painted/crafted bases, but I am curious the best way to cut a metal figurine from a molded base that some of them have on them. I want to cut the figurines below their feet to make them so they can stand up on a custom base. Hope this question makes sense ...lol

I use snips (also called nippers or cutting pliers) to clip off the bulk of the metal, then usually trim down the rest with a sharp knife.

But if there's a lot of metal still to remove I'll use my motor tool with a cutter bit. These come in a wide variety of shapes, here's a selection of the profiles you can get:

These remove material quickly so you have to go slow and work cautiously, but despite how they look they're capable of surprising finesse if you use a delicate touch. But be warned, if you slip BAM, an entire face can be gone!

That. I have some sprue nippers that have a flat edge which are pretty brill (no good as wire clippers but great for softer metal). I also have 115 above. It's great, use a tool with a low rpm. The dremel stylus I have drops right down. But be very careful, as Einion mentioned, it's easy to slip
