LOL!

That's one of the first house rules I actually like - because it isn't just "let's see how we can make this game really easy!"

It's not a significant buff in games going well and helps compensate a bit for games going badly, but to be honest it makes pans into a vaguely decent weapon, which it was never meant to be. Pans are meant to be discarded when taking wounds, not to kill zombies.

The main issue I have here is that it encourages consolidating pans on the same character in the early game - there is no reason not to if you have an action handy in the first turn (assuming you follow the rules and give everyone something), and that changes game flow every game.

I cannot imagine wanting to keep a set of pans even with this house rule, and I wouldn't go looking for a fight. There is less than 1/3 chance of causing a wound. Also, it is likely that this would be used by the survivors taking their turn towards the end of the round. As such, it does help to alleviate concern of pulling an Aaagh card while searching for a better weapon. I'm more likely to make them stronger by giving the set two wounds if both hit - I'm picturing it as slamming the zombie's head between the two pans in the best tradition of the Looney Toons. ( a 1/36 chance to take out a fattie )

I don't think that is the case - otherwise 'pans' would be 'canned food' or any other non-weapon item. The survivors all start with at least one weapon, even if it is a rubbish one - and I think that is the point of the pans - they are meant to be for killing zombies, they're just not very good at it - so they're the weapon of last resort (but not in a nuke sense, more in a I've got nothing else, so I might as well hit it with a pan, sense)

we didn't even came up with the houserule to change game balance in any direction. one of our players got hold of 2 pans at some point, and went "Man to bad i cant dualwield these. that be badass" more for laughs than anything :p

but to be honest, if z-day comes. and i was surrounded by only pans, i'd take 2...

Dual Weilding pans seems like a fun idea.

It's not going to make anyone a killing machine, and it would help out for those times you just can't find a weapon fast enough.

I'm going to talk my gaming group into adopting this house rule.
