Forgeworld Abaddon model

Wasn't Horus Abaddon's primarch? Regardless, Very nice looking diorama. Is FW selling it as such, or just the Abaddon model?

Yeah just me being an idiot, sorry for the mix up people! Forgeworld should be selling it as seen. Check out the Angron model, this is the same kind of thing. I believe.lol.

Ah sheeeeat, I dont get it. I do not get it. To me its just another space marine, same thing with Angron. same old space marine in just little bit bigger and yet another cool pose (ok, pretty neat pose i have to admit but still).

oh well... :)

I'm with Skel on this one. Mahreenz is mahreenz, regardless of the presence or absence of spikes or the colour of their armour. Nice dynamic pose, mind you. Same with Angron - nice pose, good face. Can't get excited about the "Primarch"ness.

The photos and videos don't do the actual models justice. When you see then up close you realise what lovely miniatures they actually are. Although I love the gritty and realistic paint jobs FW does, I'm looking forward to seeing them with being painted up in a more traditional manner.

I never thought i'd say this but im with Skel on this its another space marine *sigh* why the size difference? as Bloodhowl stated abbaddon was only a spacemarine sized (clone of Horus according to da books anyway). I would love to see Gw do something special with the primarchs its a great oppertunity for an entire new range, shame if they miss the boat on this one.

The reason Abaddon is bigger is because he's in Caterphratii armour - which is slightly bigger than the Terminator armour we're used to (the rules for it are also better). He's actually not much larger than a normal mini but Loken is only a WIP made mostly from plastic bits, he's also in regular Power armour so will be a bit smaller.

FW are going to release Abaddon and Loken as a pair on the above base next and Fulgrim will be done after, price tags will all be around the £50. Horus (version 1) will be probably the last model from Book One to be done and eta is in just under a year.

I must confess - despite my previously stated ambivalence to marines, I'm kinda curious as to what they do with Fulgrim and Mortarion. The former because he should be a really purty model, and the latter because I've kinda got a soft spot for nurgle. Big carrion wings and a scythe have definite potential, too...

Well Space Marine models dont really excite me. I like them alright, but once you've seen one, you have near enough seen them all. I think the best thing they could do here is after the miniatures have all been released start releasing either large scale versions of these characters to match their other large space marine or start a range of 54mm super cool high detail "Painters Series" models or some such line where they can flex their design studio muscle and get some uber cool stuff for non gaming painters to get their teeth sunk into. Now that would be cool....

Listening to Tony Cotrell speak in the FW seminar it would appear that they will only create miniatures that fall into one of their campaigns. So the next Warhammer book is "Black Fire Pass" so they'll be doing lots of Dwarves and Green Skins etc. All of the big monsters fall into Monsterous Aracanum (or however it's spelt). I got the distinct impression that it isn't through choice either and that FW have been told that releases must be "playable" in game systems. It's a real shame as I think 54mm or 72mm high detail pieces would be fantastic. Same with more busts.

Thanks Runebrush, I wasn't able to attend the seminar as I missed out on a ticket due to not knowing where to go to pick them up! Thats a real shame they are bound by those rules. No doubt the suits that be are stupid enough to think people who just like to paint don't exist. It is such a shame GW do not dabble or dip their toes into alternate waters anymore, they could do great things.

Me and the brother were so lucky - we picked up the very last one for the 2pm session :s For information next year, when you get in, head right past the FW bits and you will see somebody lurking near the food hall and doors to the seminar area. Tickets go within 15 minutes though (as we found out last year).

I actually wish there was a way of actually communicating ideas and things to GW/FW as I'm sure we could drum up enough people saying "yes please" to do a short run of Painters Series models.

Do the tickets become available the minute the gates open to Golden Demon competitiors? If so I will be sure to head on over straight away next year. Forgeworld would be making a lot of money if they used their talents to produce some high qulaity sculpts of decent and worthy characters/monsters etc. I know it. All they need to do to sell it is price it right, choose the right models to produce.

I'm not sure as some @sshole told us that there wasn't an early entry queue this year (one of the stewards).

Completely agree. A physically accurate large scale space marine that was as flexible in design as the contemptor (with different weapon options) around £50/£60 I think would sell amazingly well.
