Hi all,
Thought that it was about time I got a couple of pics up so I can get some feedback on where i am going wrong.
I have never really been into the painting side of things in the past and the extent of my effort was slapping a basic wash and drybrush over a (often pretty scrappy) basecoat, if that. I often played with totally unpainted models as my focus was gaming and not painting. This is pretty much the attitude within my gaming group.
Recently though I have lost interest in the gaming side of things and am starting to want to paint to a higher standard. I have set myself a goal of achieving a 7 on a mini but I'm a long way off that at the moment. I have been experimenting with different techniques and styles over the last couple of weeks and am starting to find my way i think.
This is a wolfguard i painted for my wolves:

As you can no doubt see, the standard is pretty low. So after some reading on the forums here and elsewhere i tried taking a different approach and ended up with something like this:

I have to say that I enjoyed the process alot more when painting the Greyseer. I tried to thin my paints alot more and experimented with using glazes a little. I feel I learnt a few lessons in this process that i can use in the future. I found at this point that metallics where a problem for me and i didnt really know how to approach them. This pretty much brings me up to date and so i'll share my latest offering.

Was thinking about attempting a OSL effect of the fist but think that may be runninging before I can walk. Also not sure about the hammer, I dont think the colors work but cant seem to come up with a alternative.
I feel i am improving slowly but surely (at least I hope I am) but I also know I am a long way of getting that 7
Any guidance from you guys would be much appreciated as I am sure you will all see mistakes/problems that i would never notice and I'd rather get out of the bad habits i have picked up sooner rather than later.
Sorry for the dodgy pics and hope they are at least good enough to give you the general idea
