Very nice! I'm digging the color combo, and her face came out really well--that eye is awesome. The wraps on her thighs are great too, they look nice and grimy :D

The transition from pale to medium tone on the sword is great, but I'm confused by the black spot on the upper portion. Also, I think for the blood to be convincing, the red needs to be less neat-edged and maybe more smeary or splattery.

Overall, awesome stuff :)

Thanks Sionid! I painted her sword seperate and after putting them together i was scratching my head doing the "wtf" face. So i redid the sword and her knees and finished her up. At this point i'm going to say im 99% finished. Not sure about the blood, it may be too bright. I wanted it to look kinda fresh. Dunno. Opinions would be most appreciated. Here are some pics (sorry Tryst i haven't had the time to montage her yet, and i'll probably bug you some more here soon).

The mini that is going to win is already posted on the wamp gallery (if you can't figure it out your bloody blind) so this is for the 25$ store credit or free mini. That by itself is worth it :) Now i just got to figure out use photoshop before the 23rd. Easy right? I can build a computer but the software eludes me, go figure.

Hey Moe, that Twilight Knight is awesome! My Dark Angels are coming along, slowly... hopefully get some more work in tonight or tomorrow night. I too have a GW assassin not painted black, i went with white actually. The callidus assassin if you familiar with it, the female assassin with the long plait. But it was many years ago, and... its not so good. :)
Yeah, I like your dark green.

Ditto. The blood does not look right (I.e. It looks like how I would do it :D). I really like your take on this.

I must be blind then, because I don't see any one mini that dominates. There are several that are really good, but none that floor me.

@RayzrYR- Thanks! I know the assassin your talking about. I can honestly say I've never seen a white one before. You have my wheels turning for a future project.

@KB- Thanks! I'm not sure how to fix it.

@TrystanGST- It's just my humble opinion :) If i were to pick a top 5 out of whats posted, in no particular order, I'd pick your grandmother, the illuminated lady by masx, the illuminated lady by Leonard Tai, the twilight knight by Mrika, and the hamlet knight by greengobbo. The twilight knight was the one that blew me away, she is just beautiful to me. It's any ones guess at this point anyways but those are my personal favorites so far :) there are probably a million people waiting till the last minute to post their stuff, 25 bucks just for posting a painted mini is hard to pass up. It's the only reason i'm even submiting anything.

So....How do fix the blood? I'm not in the habit of watching things bleed. The paint bottle did say "blood red" ya know.

Looking good. Mix some brown and maybe a tip of blue to that red to get a deep rich blood color. Its way too bright right now. The cape might could do with one more highlite and then a filter to blend it together. The rest is really pretty damn nice.

Just a guess moe, but I think filter=glaze/wash (a thin layer of suggested color). As for the blood - definitely needs some variance in color. At the moment it looks bit like ketchup (catsup?)

Have you tried mixing red ink with a drop of black ink to darken the red down gives an effect similar to the hellraiser movie makeup. Really like your model

You want to make a kind of reddish purple brown, so a deep blue should be right. Trystan is correct, a filter is like a glaze but much much thinner and almost no tinted water in the brush, they are often considered the same thing. Most of my finishing of figures is done with filters. I think of a wash as an uncontrolled flooding of the painted surface so I wouldn't do that.

OK hows the blood look now? I went with what Milosh suggested. The Girlfriend says it made a major improvement:

It's definitely an improvement, but I think it needs to be a deeper shade. I like the addition of the brown a lot, but it just looks a bit pale to be blood.

ok, so i did more brown in the mix. I also edged out the armor a tad more and highlighted her cloak more and did two filters.

What do you guys think now? (needs to be thicker still, i know but i don't think i will have the time before i have to post a pic)

5:30 am comes quick for me for work, so this is all i will probably be able to do till i get home tomorrow.

I'm going to go against the grain - I'd like to see the blood be a bit more translucent. But the cloak is looking great.
