Wolfen Miniatures

Are these original sculpts by Rackham? And is cadwallon.com a legitimate website to get these figures from? I only go through CMON or bartertown to find the original Confrontation Wolfen figures, but I also like these wolf scuplts.

Hi,

no they are not Rackham originals directly.
They were designed and sculpted by the people of aarklash-chronicles.com / Legendarion. So they are not recasts but new designs/concepts.
Even if legacy has the official ip I like their new sculpts that I'll be probably buying them (Especially the new Griffin when they come out).

As for cadwallon.com: more or less. I think the ones you can buy there are NOT recasts, but bought from the aarklash-chronicles. But the older models (the old original R figures) are mostly recasts here (not all, some are still in original packages, but for example the limited editions and the long oop ones are).

Thanks. So just to be safe, as for the Official Rackham models, it would be wise to not order from them:

Especially these:

Nemetis
Tyrant of Vile-Tis
Flesh Eaters Box Set
Huntsman 1
Huntsman 2

Wolfen Hunters 3
Wolfen Predator w/ Chain
Wolfen Repenant 2
Wolfen Prowler
Asgarh
Killyox

correct, those are most likely recasts, but good quality ones, so if there is absolutely no other way to paint one up then I'd consider them.
I don't really see the point in protecting already dead companies(Rackham) and Legacy doesn't do a lot of releases either, so even though they have the IP as far as I know they look semi-dead.

the only exception if the text says, that it comes in original box/blister with cards, then it's just old stock.

As I understand it the IP was bought up by Legacy along with the rights to restart production.
Legacy along with Coolminiornot are releasing Confrontation: Pheonix some time this year.

In regards to Legendarion he was banned from Coolminiornot for blatent personal and racist attacks against Chern An, when challenged about creating products which breached the IP. (I know this because I was the one forced to ban him).

Also in the same vein, Legendarion got canned from Dragonpainting for being, well, to put it bluntly, a bit of a *****.

It's a terrible shame - he's one of the best sculptors out there. If he went his own way and sculpted his own miniatures, a whole lot of people bet that he'd be really raking it in.

ohh, didn't know those facts (with the exception of the coming of the phoenix, but that was promised for last August with almost no new since).
Shame as the concept art the the realization is excellent. Both for the cadwallon wolfen and the griffin inqusition figures.

I think it sucks people are ripping off the IP, but at the same time I don't really care on a personal level. The company has been defunct for around 6 years now and the new releases (re-releases?) through 'legal' channels have been quite scant. I want to put my faith in this Phoenix deal, but I'm sure I read before that they didn't even have molds for the entire catalogue and were missing miniatures. Add that to the revamped, reworked or new rules and those NASTY looking cards they previewed on the GoC kickstarter and I'm starting to become quite impartial to who's making confrontation mini's and their source of origin. I just want confrontation minis and I'm going to pay whomever is going to deliver. Actually, I'm almost more partial to the new old stock floating around out there simply because I like the cards. Maybe I'm weird. I don't know.

Just add. They didn't design the first one. It was drawn by an artist called Nicoly over on the Dragonpainting forum. He did it as a tribute piece.

Nicoly took it from a rejected concept art by Guitton, he did not design it either...

No, I know that. Sorry what I was getting at is that They used Nicoly's drawing to sculpt the mini from, as originally when it was advertised they used his drawing to show it up to. Sorry if I miss lead anyone.

I innocently challenged him with honest IP questions on PlanetFigure. He went off on a rant.
Did not actually answer my question.

I've reached the point in my life where I am really comfortable doing without something I want
if a s*ithead stands between me and it. I'm a good guy and I've paid my dues.
He needs a better bedside manner.

I like some of his "new" Rackham too. It's a shame, really.
