Tips and Tricks for Washing Miniatures Quickly?

I have been painting a lot of Spartan Games products recently, and I have had a terrible time prepping them for painting.

I usually wash resin mini with warm water and dish soap, but this has not been working. The last batch I did I washed and scrubbed (coarse brush and toothbrush) THREE times before priming and I STILL had paint flaking off on about half the models.

I emailed Spartan about it, and they were no help. They weren't sure if it was a mould release problem or something to do with the kind of silicon they use.

In any case, I need to wash a lot of minis and I can't soak them all in Dettol every time.

So: Any suggestions?

Has anyone ever used a dish-washer or washing machine to do minis?

I was thinking of constructing some kind of container out of old strainers to keep everything together and just running it through 5 or 6 cycles. Would the heat or soap be a problem for resin? I don't think so but... still worried about it.

Totally frustrated....

If you use the dishwasher i would only put them on the top rack. The temp will be lower. If you can get something like a kids mesh bug jar that has proper lid then a lukewarm clothes washer cycle might work best. I would not run it through five or six times. Once should be enough

I don't know if this will help you or not, but I had a similar issue with GW Finecast resin reacting with my primer. The solution was to wash the models to remove the release agents, and let dry. Spray with dullcote, then let dry. Once the dullcote was dry, I was able to prime normally and begin painting. I know it was the finecast resin, as I sprayed metal, plastic and resin minis from FW, Reaper. and CMoN with the same primer and had no issues.

Thanks for the advice, particularly on using Dullcoat.

I have gathered from the Spartan forums that the problem is probably not with their minis, as no one else seems to be having problems.

I think that it might be the temperature and humidity on the day I did the bulk. I'm still not sure why some were fine and others not...
