Ditto on the base. You are really burning through this stuff! Good luck on the robot, I know you can do it.

So poor HLpR Bot is going to be getting a PineSol bath tomorrow. I just couldn't decide what direction I wanted to take, so I've built up too much paint without getting anywhere.
So I started on my next Babe - Sally (and her erstwhile companion Squidman).

Thanks Mar. I think I get confused because when I watch threads by guys like Milosh or Skel or Crackpot, EVERYTHING they post is amazing. Maybe they're painting mortal level minis off camera, or maybe they're just unnaturally good. Either way, it makes me feel like everything I paint has to be the best ever. ;)

You have nothing to be ashamed of. Your skills have developed greatly, and that mini is a lot more impressive than most people will paint her. Just keep on your path, use those painters as inspiration, not a source of depression.

QFT! Coming back and seeing what you can do now is beyond impressive.

Getting a little quicker with these. All she needs is he backpack attached and painted. Then I can bash out Squidword and paint up the base.

So, as you may or may not know, I've been working 3rd shift since about Thanksgiving. It's cool because when things are slow, I have time to paint. And in IT, things are often slow in the middle of the night. I use painting as a way to help keep awake as well, since it require focus. I still enjoy painting, and I love having almost dedicated time to do it. But lately, like this last week, I've been having trouble getting myself to paint. And that's a bad thing, since if I'm not painting I'm not really doing much, which is a great way to get really sleepy. Ok ok, the 4 hours of sleep a day aren't helping. But whatever.

Anyways, even though I need another project like I need something I don't need, I felt that a fresh mini would help re-invigorate me. And it has. So far. I'm not forgetting about Sally and Squidman, or Draznicht, or Ahnamoth. I just wanted to paint something different. The figure I chose is something I've had sitting around, primed, for a long time. It's a figure I love, but one I was afraid to start for fear that my skills weren't ready. They still may not be, but I'm giving it a go anwyays.
And hailing all the way from wherever Rackham was, the Wolfen Prowler:

I wanted to go with a panther feel, so staying black for the "skin" was critical. For the garb, I am going to aim for a linen white, since in the desert dark colors would be folly. Especially if you're already covered in black fur. I haven't decided if I want the cowl to be the same color as the shirt or not.
Comments, criticism, concerns welcome as always ;)

First of all I'll say that I love this mini and the whole wulfen range in general. Great start on the skin/fur. Being as much of a noob as I am I always feel a bit dodgy given comments/criticism/ideas but here goes anyway :p Maybe more of a creamy white for the main robes and a more white white for the other areas? Also regarding your comment on dark colors in the desert I think you'd be suprisd how often they do wear blacks. Prob still best to use alternatives on this mini due to the dark skin/fur but thought i'd throw it out there. Red seems to be a popular colour in the arab world as well as strong yellows and golds so maybe these could be considered? Maybe a traditional style red and white shemagh would look cool?

Not much help I know but I hope its at least given you something to think about

secret - good point. The robes are just base coated. It will definitely get lighter, and probably a bit darker in the shadows. I was just trying out a new color (hammerfall khaki in case you were wondering). I will definitely add some color to various bits, but it seems a lot of the prowlers in the gallery already are red. And as a "prowler", it'd be hard to blend into the desert with a bright red robe!

I know what you are going through with not being motivated to paint. You are making the right call moving onto something different like your prowler. I like the concept you are going for and your skills are there so don't worry about that.
