CMON Expo was fantastic!

I've just returned from the Expo (I unfortunately could not stay all three days) and I can honestly say it was the most positive experience I've ever had at a con/expo. I got to spend some quality time talking at length with designers and developers and directors, I came away excited to play with my newly purchased foray into Dark Age, I am now subscribed to the unbelievable Ravage magazine, and I am anxiously awaiting CMON's next kickstarter.

For those of you that would remember me, my name is Clay from Eastern TN, and I (accidentally) wore a NASA hat for the entire show.

Special thanks to Michael (aka Mr. Black) for your sharing the world of Dark Age with my friend Kevin and me and getting us started with the game; to Derek for several hours worth of good conversation about community, game development, and CMON's newest game; to Ted Terranova for some really encouraging discussion about artwork and motivation, and the amazing picture you drew/painted for me at the show.

You can certainly count on me returning next year!

I too had a fantastic time. Got to play SDE, Rivet Wars, and Kaos Ball with the creators which was awesome. The SDE Battle Arena mode was a lot of fun and gave a new tactical twist to the dungeon crawler. The Zombicide Night Terrors was a really cool concept, and is very difficult, will go over well at future conventions. The staff and Legion members were all very friendly and helpful, and the guest artists were great at answering questions and giving hands on examples of techniques. Can't wait for next years!

My wallet was wounded because of the immediate need to pick up Dark Age upon actually playing a game of it (Kukulkani, here!) and the benefit of already owning or having kickstarted everything else I was interested in. Although I am *extremely* interested in the new Wrath of Kings game, I'm going to wait for the kickstarter for that one.

Hope they have it again next year but not the same weekend as Wonderfest, which was truly amazing! They have their 25th show next year and so want to attend both!!!!

Had a blast this weekend at the Expo.....playing all the games (Including a game of Rivet Wars with Ted Terranova) and demoing a bunch of the games for folks. Assisting with running the Zombicide Night Terrors was highlight of weekend gotta say; just watching the slaughter.....soooo many dead zombies and survivors.

I had a good time, too! Everyone involved on the organization and demo end seemed very friendly and upbeat. I enjoy the grand spectacle of Gen Con, but I also enjoy a more intimate, casual convention like this. My husband enjoyed attending seminars and talking with the game designers, and the same for me with the painting guests. James and Cathy Wappel and Jen Haley spent time painting in the paint and take area very available for questions and hanging out. (I'm not sure the Wappels ever left it, really. ;->) It was a great place to meet other fun and friendly painters, too.

Not being a big zombie fan, and having a fair few board games, hubby and I had not paid much attention to Zombicide, but we very much enjoyed our demo of it and that made its way home with us, as well as a few other bibs and bobs from the store. I like the figures, though I am probably too slow a painter to ever completely paint our set! Sedition Wars is more of a complex minis style game (we usually play European designer board games), but the figures are great and I'm sure that it's just what lots of other folks will love. Evil Baby Orphanage with the Wyrd demo crew was a perfect late night game opportunity and I really appreciate how welcoming they were. I didn't get a chance to demo Super Dungeon Explore, but I loved painting the pieces that were available in paint and take. Great minis to just have fun with.

I'm hoping Tabletop News will post day 3 pictures soon, and/or that Crystal Brush will post the contest pictures, cause I can't help wanting to enjoy the spotlight just a little. ;->
