Gallery - Low voting rate

Spending quite some time on the forum and gallery since I created my account, I realized that the gallery voting rate is decreasing, before was around 60-70, then (1 year ago) move to around 40, then (now) something like 20-30.
It is true that myself vote less, I did a lot in the past but less recently... Do you think there are any incentives to push people to vote more? Me included :( ...

I like this gallery, I often use it, as many other members, as a great source of inspiration. I also like to display my mini, more as an history track record, knowing that all my minis are "saved" somewhere and able to see my progress over time... I wish that the gallery being more active. BTW I am going to vote on recent mini right now...

Actually, I think it's slowing because the forums are slowing, which might mean visits are down. A lot of regulars don't seem to be posting, and new introduction threads are farther between. Not sure of any specific reason, cept maybe everybody is off playing with the games they got from Kickstaters and don't have the time. Could be spring, so people are outside. Could be indication of an economic change.

Myself, I was looking forward to a month of family-lessness as they go visit other family, and using that to paint. Unfortunately, work has offered to pay me every hour I work, and requested that I spend every waking moment digging them out of the whole they put themselves in. I'm saddened by that tremendously.

Or be like TrystanGST and paint at work :) So when the boss says productivity is down you can prove him/her wrong :)

Stupid work, cutting into my painting time - I haven't been able to lift a brush all week. Who gave the data center permission to overheat on my watch?

I'd love to paint at work, but I think they'd get all zero-tolerancey at all the pointy bits. Both the shooty and snugly ones.

Work - a burden I will temporarily not have to bear. Though the scavenge to find a new one might not be fun.
Just to clarify Boubi, which rate do you mean? I have noticed that sometimes my count of minis voted on drops, as though someone had pulled their vote post off the site.

Nope, the problem is that the votes are stuck around 20-30 votes... in the past you could easily reach 60-70 votes per minis.

Ah ok, I have posted very to the voting gallery. Does have something to do with so many in the gallery? 190000+ is many many shinies to look at, burn out is sure set in quickly.

Yes, it does lead to burn out. I spent a considerable amount of time to get me to 10k votes. Haven't voted in more than a month. But then again, haven't managed to do much of anything the past two months.

I have noticed this too over the last few months particularly. it's a shame because models don't count towards your ranking till you hit 50 votes. bacause of this I have been making sure I vote every time I visit the page. usually between 10 and 20.

I think the issue could have a variety of sources. I don't think companies posting images of bases and unpainted castings/digi sculpts helps. it fills up space and I tend to skip voting on those preferring to vote on hobbyists paintjobs instead. To me it kind of feels like the video you can skip before watching a youtube video.

In the mean time i'm going to continue doing my bit

I agree that it seems overall traffic to the site is down...and it gets annoying to see WIP level mini's being posted in the gallery with multiple views entered as separate submissions.

This and also the 4-6 submissions of a large mediocre terrain piece. One submission only please!!

I used to have a vote count at 10%+ of all submissions but it's too much like hard work and maybe I waste a lot more time on facebook and other internet nonsense instead of pic viewing here. Something I'll have to think about.

What if they cut-off voting after a year or something?

You can do a search term and then just browse through what you searched but it might be nice to have seperate galleries. like a Beginner or table top gallery, a Pro gallery, a Terrain gallery, Vehicle gallery, WIP so on and so forth. I imagine table top stuff in the pro gallery would get a "1" while solid clean table top stuff could get a "10" in the beginner gallery.

Another idea that might be useful would be to allow pictures that were over submitted or miscategorized to be flagged for review by the CMON Axe Lords.

(1 Traffic and submissions do seem to be lower at the moment, but because I can now get access at a (UK) lunchtime the number of submissions is staying stable.
Weekend traffic increases with the availibility of free time. In point of fact in the 1½ hours I've been on her (Saturday morning) the number of items I've approved has been more than I normally see at weekday lunchtime.
(2 We moderators tend to limit the number of submissions of the same mini to 3.
Although saying that If someone links multiple Ebays links I'm not going to bin them and cost them the credits they've paid for.

This and also the 4-6 submissions of a large mediocre terrain piece. One submission only please!! (3)

(3 Care to enlighten me please?

(5 Please feel free to flag up for discussion anything you think has been over submitted. Being miscategorised is the submitters fault, I see too many unnamed pieces as it is at the moment so they all get a ? because I'm not going to put right their lazyness.

One thing that is apparent to me is that there are a number of Ebay painters blasting out the "New and shiny" in the hope of making a quick buck. Some of them seem to think that an Airbrush paintjob is all that is needed. To my point of view (and if this makes me sound elitist then so be it) they look unfinished and poor. Painting for ebay/commision means that you should be doing the best job to get the best return, not quick and cheap.

lol okay maybe it is 2-3 submissions. It's so numbing it's hard to be accurate. I'll just learn to click next and get on with it

For me it is this: when I vote I am immediately redirected to the next random picture, not the next picture in my search or anything like that. It adds considerable time as I know have to redo my search. The reason I do this is simply taste, I hate 40k, good paint job or not I recognize I have a serious bias and don't want to bring anyone's score down because of that bias, so I don't want the next random image I want the next image I can look at subjectively, and given the sheer volume of 40k stuff that gets put up if the next mini is random chances are it will be 40k. Stop auto redirecting me when I vote, I will vote more. My 2 cents.

Thanks for the clarifications DR...now if I can just figure out why I stopped getting email notifications to subscribed threads...

Yeah I noticed that too no more email alerts they stopped a couple of weeks ago I don't think I changed anything. Oh and I started getting the blasted adverts again even though I'm a premium member, grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Thinking back about a year or so ago we had the same low score problem and we were told its just low voting its not the site nothing to do with us etc. etc. and then ooooopps err yes it was us erm its all fixed and then about forty or so votes just miraculously appeared over night on the minis. I think it was about the time the points and prizes thing originally came on line it messed it all up for a bit.

So I'm very suspicious that email alerts go and the voting / traffic goes down I'm not convinced this isn't a computer software glitch.

Good point. I Usually check CMON on the iPad which doesn't seem to pay attention to the points deal. I only see those items when I log on with my Windows based PC...another reason for liking the iPad (almost makes up for the crappy auto correct ;))
