OK, some people have their hands on Companion Dogs, are using them, and rules questions are starting to appear, so it's time for a '(not so) big ... Questions for Guillotine Games thread'!

Post your Companion Dogs RULES related questions here, I'll collate them all in this here OP, and then, at some point, will send them off to Guillotine Games, and then post a new thread with their answers once I receive them.

From: Josh Deason/TelevisedAssassin (BGG)
Question 1: Can a Handler spend an action giving an item to a Companion Dog?
Question 2: Can a Dog interact with Actors that are not the Handler (I.E. Bismuth searches for an item, can I then send him to another Actor that could make better use of the item and spend another action to have Bismuth give it to that Actor)?

From: Andy/AndySzy (BGG)
Question 3: If a Companion Dog attacks and kills a Zombie, does it's Handler gain experience?

From: XofMds (CMON)
Question 4: Can a Companion Dog be stashed in a car?

From: Mathias Heilmann/Heilz (BGG)
Question 5: Can a Companion Dog's Handler spend more than one action per round to have the Companion Dog search?
Question 6: Does a Companion Dog's Handler have to spend two actions in order to enter a car together?

From: Scott Hill/Scorpion0x17 (BGG/CMON/ZombiesDash)
Question 7: Can both a Companion Dog and it's Handler search during a single turn?
Question 8: What happens to items dropped by a Companion Dog?
Question 9: May a Companion Dog be instructed to search whilst it is carrying an item, and if so, does the player controlling the Handler get to decide which item the Companion Dog then carries?
Question 10: Wanda is in Zone A, and her Companion Dog is in, an adjacent Zone, Zone B. If Wanda moves, her full 2 zone move, through Zone B, into a third Zone, Zone C, which is adjacent to Zone B, will her Companion Dog follow her?

From: Sam Mattson/squipple (BGG)
Question 11: Can a Companion Dog take an Objective, and if so does the Handler gain 5exp?

From: Chris G/goose0805 (BGG)
Question 12: Can a Companion Dog utilize its Handler's skills (eg +1 to dice roll: Melee, +1 free Melee Action, Lucky, etc)?

From: Andi Anonymous/Abbath (BGG)
Question 13: Are dogs able to climb ladders, are they allowed in the observation tower zone?

From: Jonah Rees/jonahmaul (BGG)
Question 14: Are dogs counted as weapons for purposes of searching police cars?

From: Goofycabal (CMON)
Question 15: Do the +1 die (or +2 dice) Melee bonus that the dogs give their handlers stack if the handler has multiple dogs and +1 die melee skills him/herself? Eg: El Cholo is armed with 2 Machetes, in the Orange Danger level with the +1 Die Melee skill, and Gaspard (+2 dice), Moog (+2 dice) and Lucien (+1 die). Does he therefore have 14 dice to attack with in Melee? (ie 7 dice per Machete).

From: SHELKYJR (CMON)
Question 16: Since Companion Dogs are listed as Survivors, if you have a Companion Dog in a scenario where all Survivors are required to exit the board, does losing your Companion Dog automatically lose yo the scenario?

WARNING!

I will (unless I get a flood of questions) be submitting these questions to Guillotine Games on, or around, but not before, the weekend of the 1st of February.

If you have any further Dogs rules related questions, which haven't already been covered, that you wish Guillotine Games to answer, make sure to post them BEFORE that date.

I shall post a one further warning about a week before.

Here's hoping I squeezed in under the wire. Just wanted to confirm that since dogs are listed as survivors, if you have a dog in a scenario where all survivors are required to exit the board, then losing your dog automatically loses the scenario. At the very least that's how we've played it, helps make the dogs less desirable.

FINAL FINAL (despite saying there would be no further warnings) WARNING!

OK, having been knocked sideways, somewhat, by a change in medication, I've decided to extend the deadline on this by what is now only a few days.

I will now be collating the questions and submitting them to Guillotine Games this coming weekend (starting 8th of February).

Well, assuming no life events get in the way again!

Slightly re-worded, and added.

And the questions have been sent!

Any questions submitted after this point will not be sent to Guillotine Games by me - however, if you wish to post questions here, send them to Guillotine Games yourselves, and post any answers received, then please feel free to do so.

I will post the answers to the submitted questions once I have received them.

It's been over a months since you submitted all these rule questions...still no reply? I got a reply from them in under a week when I pointed out a date issue in their mission section on the site.

Yeah, still no reply.

They did say they were busy, and wanted to use the questions to update the FAQ, though, so it may take some time for them to answer everything.

I have another question about dogs we've been running into. I know you already submitted, but this seemed like the right spot for it.
Imagine a scenario where zombies are looming in on your space. There's 5 runners and 2 dogs in a space right next to all the survivors and you're down to the last player in the round. That player has a dog companion. He sends the dog into that space to attack, and kills 2 runners with his actions. Now the zombies activate. Do the remaining 3 runners and 2 dogs spend all their attacks on the dog, or does just one zombie kill the dog with the first attack and the rest move into the survivor space and attack. I assume since there's not a zombie-sided attack priority (so you'd know what zombies move into your space) and that the dog is treated like a survivor, that it's the former and they all just have a feeding frenzy on the dog. You're essentially sacrificing a dog so that nobody takes wounds. Anyone know of an official rule for this?

I'm pretty sure the "Is a Survivor" rules is a catch-all rule for situations like this.

So, yes, they all have a feeding frenzy on the dog.

Answered by Thiago in the Season 3 comments -
"The actions a Handler can have his Dog perform are listed in the rules: Move, Melee Attack, Make Noise, Get in or out of car, Search. That's all they can do."
So, no, a dog can't take an objective.
