Art Cards

Going to be trying my hand at "ACEO Cards" - art cards - editions and originals. Trading card size miniature artworks basically that people trade or sell. The pieces of art are all 3.5x2.5 inches, signed and numbered on the back by the artist.

Doing miniature pieces should help me develop some speed drawing and thumbnails and composition skills as a side bonus for my own personal development. Here is the first one, I am developing a simple website and will be doing various series - fantasy, horror, fan stuff, animals, landscapes etc. anything and everything.

Here is my first card....

Yep Artist Trading Cards (ATC's) are very popular. I bought a stack of them to potter about with, but I'm not 100% comfortable with size.
Still they are an interesting way to discipline yourself in drawing/sketching/painting.

Yeah I would agree about the size, very difficult to work with. But there is some nice stuff and some good pieces go for a fair bit of money. I am happy to potter about just as a way to get doing art. Most artists will give you the advice to draw every day. Easily done on a sketch card I am thinking....

The website for my artcards is all done. It is quite simple and done using the Wix free hosting. I thought just having Ebay auctions was a bit lame and wanted to be able to blog a little alongside it, with my plans, details and information on materials and just to make things more interesting really. Check it out. It doesnt look right in Opera for some reason. Bit of a bummer as its the browser i like to use lol. If someone can let me know how it looks in Firefox, I would be greateful!!! Also check out the latest card I have done below, it is a Froud copy from the Trolls book he has done. Part of a series of "Inspiration" cards where I attempt to recreate/add modify a little some of work of my favourite artists. The goal in copying is to learn to capture some of their style if I can.

They look fine(*) on my Touchpad browser.

(* Fine, but colour balance and angle of photo's are spoiling the viewing. Better off scanning or using tripod in natural window light.)

Thank you DR, there are so many devices and browsers, to check. Not like I can do anything if it doesn't look good in any case, its a simple html 5 web design suite. Suits my needs, and I dont wish to pay for a site.

Must apologise for photos. I dont have easy access to my scanner at the mo. These are phone camera at night, so not the best. But I will be doing better ones when I can.
