Ice Effects On a Miniature

I'm currently considering doing an ice effect on my pSorscha variant figure. The idea is to have an arc of ice following in the wake of Frostfang to give the weapon a greater sense of motion and well...iciness.


My current plan is to build acrylic gel from Golden or Liquitex off of the back end of the weapon a little bit at a time, letting it dry as I go. I'll add some white and light blue to the gel as well. I'm also considering using a clear plastic fork tine and pinning it to the end of Frostfang as a clear armature to support the resin.


Of course, I'm going to play with this off-figure first to see how it looks and fine-tune the method, but I wanted to get some feedback as I'm putting together my plan of attack.

Easier to take section of clear plastic from a blisterpack and build up with Woodland Scenics water effects (The textured one).
Dries in 24 hours and is more "predictable" than the acrylic gel.

dragonsreach is not wrong. If I could suggest a slight refinement get your clear fork tine or plastic spru and heat it in the middle over a candle flame holding on to the opposite sides when your skin starts to blister it should be the right temp to pull quickly apart voila great icicles! then do the texturing as Dragonreach says.
