Registered Voters

You learned that the opinion of the common man is the same as us registered users.

What's more interesting is the figs with overly inflated scores will frequently have a much lower registered voter score.

Give it time. The snipers can only hit so many projects in a day. :pissed-off:Grrrrrr.

Actually, I feel like my score of 8.1 is spot on. Very often I see other peoples' project receiving scores that are way too low, but over time they tend even out. Sure there are snipes here and there, but for the most part scores even out and reflect the truth, IMO.

Yeah, ideally they should be pretty close. Of course people who get hit by snipers or are inflating your scores with their friends will probably have a larger difference in the two numbers. If the numbers are the same or off by only .1 or .2, then it means nothing fishy is going on. At least that's my take on it.

Generally I agree with what is said above - but don't think that just because someone is a registered voter that they don't snipe. The majority do not, as with the general population. It is only a very small minority - but I have personally seen registered voters vote 1's, 2's or 3's. This can lead to a skewed result as the registered vote consists of a fewer number of votes and as such is more heavily affected by a low score. Go figure.

Yes but that's not going to affect your overall score any more heavily than an unregistered vote. So while it'll have a heavy impact on the registered score, it won't be hold extra weight towards the overall, official score. The score that is not in parentheses is not the average of unregistered voters. It's is the overall average of everyone's vote. Therefore, if a registered voter snipes you with a one, it isn't any more damaging to your score that an unregistered 1.

@ blood father - whilst the registered snipe will not directly affect the score anymore than a non registered vote, there is the potential for someone to see the disparity between the 2 and assume that score is inflated, if you place more weight on the registered score than the overall score. Psychology can play an important part in how people vote.

Well you can choose to turn off viewing the scores ( somewhere in your profile settings I think), although most people probably won't/don't and those that do are, in my mind, less likely to be swayed by the score anyway by the fact that they have taken conscious action to not be swayed.

Now here's something that I have noticed with the voting. It was a quiet day at work yesterday so I thought I'd track the voting of my latest submission. At some points the number of votes from registered voters went up whilst the overall figure didn't change. This happened on a couple of occasions so I don't think it's just a glitch. So this would suggest that the two are separate figures and the general average does not include votes from registered voters. If this is the case it would also suggest why the total number of votes for most people seems low if you only look at the general number of votes. Maybe a moderator could clarify this.

I like the community here, but sniping and how easy it is to manipulate the vote system is why I don't upload pictures for voting here anymore. I'd love it if they were to adopt the same system as Putty & Paint.
