If I ever get another kit of that poor a quality again I will save myself the trouble and toss it in the trash. I'll have WIP pics up later in the week that really show just how rough her skin and details are. Just a little drained at the moment. There may be a little Vaseline on the lens for these 'cause she's good from far, but far from good ;)

I learned a lot, but she needs to die this weekend. Under my boot or a hammer, not sure yet. Cassar, any suggestions?

What! she looks f&*ing ACE! You better put these exact photo's in your gallery. It's all about the photography anyways right? Shit, half of my mini's are only painted on the one side ;) Way to pull it out at the end.

Also, your feeling a little drained??? Better check you neck :)

From where the model started you have achieved an amazing result, would be a shame to destroy a lovely result. If you really don't want to see it in the house raffle it off for a worthy charity

Dam Zab she looks amazing. Also, can she die? I mean she is a vampire after all right? So wouldnt the goal be to bring her back to life again (which you did in my opinion) Think there should be maybe one more leaf in the front too.

yup. What they said. Sounds like you just need to put her in the back of the display cabinet if she looks better from afar! :)

Thanks guys! I guess I should sleep on it. I like the idea of the the charity. Maybe an ebay auction with all proceeds to charity. She looks nice in pics, but in real life she's a bit rough and I don't want to misrepresent something I am selling. Perhaps just a give away on the blog. I think I'm just one of those people who can see all my mistakes when I look at my stuff which explains why so much is sold or given away. I am slowly realizing it's the process I like more than anything.

It do really look good, but it is your call the most important thing is for you too feel good about it. Give us some closeup later and point out what you are not happy with. would be nice too see.

you are being too critical Zab to yourself. From the pic it looks pretty fine to me.
I love the shading you've done on both the skin and the clothes. So do NOT destroy it.

Mate I know where your coming from, I too are never happy with my painting. It's true you always see your own mistakes also.
I've looked at the mini for a good 10 mins real zoomed in and honestly from what I can see she look real nice to me. Being critical of your own work is good but remember every mini we paint we learn from also :)

Oh I see , yep I've had that with primer once, threw the primer away :(
You can only tell on the REAL close up photos. ,hmm, like I said it's all learning so I reckon next time the primer comes out like this you will have to strip the mini :(
I always test the spray first after thus happening to me.
Anyway I know you won't be happy with the mini so it's best to move to the next project.

Don't worry she's safe an sound at the back of the cabinet. You all convinced me. You can't learn without some mistakes :)

So here are the WIP pics of how the powders affected the skin. It all looked pretty rough until the end but then I had faith in the filtering properties of Testors Dulcote to save my ass once again ;)
Skin before the powders:

Blue pigment wash:

I brushed off the excess once dry and blended the edges with a damp brush and wet finger (known as the fussy mother technique)...

With that nice cool glow I then applied the white pigment wash to the highest areas...

That is not glare, it really is that chalky. That's okay, a dry brush and the fussy mother will fix everything...

After that I tidied up the details and whatnot and sealed with Dulcote and then gloss on the eyes and tears. You already saw the results. Not bad. Could have been awesome with a much smoother coat and cast. Next time for sure :)

Hmm, trying to think of something funny to say about Dullcoat being sexy, but I have got nothing. I am going to go scroll down and look at the final pics some more.
