Woah, dude, that mini is looke looking awesome, the trailing flames really are a dynamic look. And the colours suit them perfectly.

I am so realy enjoying painting this bad boy it's so super saturated; it's like painting really old school style GW stuff (I hope sprocket would be proud). Slight update done some of the fine details like the warpstone canister and made a start on the disk.

really really nice mate, lovely colors! I think you need to work the flames a bit more though, they look quite rough (funny to paint, aint they? lol)

Yeah definitely! I've been using your bases on the demon squad as a template also I love the standard flames from that squad you did but the resolution is way low on the gallery pic; would you do us a favour and tell me the mix and process for doing the flames on the standard pretty please?

Lol made a start on the disk. That's what makes you such a great painter. What I would call done you take several steps further. Well done.

Nah it really is a start. See the brownish color that the emblem is right now? That is his base coat for gold. Believe it or not, he does his lovely NMM gold simply by adding white to that base color. Then he glazes with a black glaze, but it's amazing how his shiney, lovely gold starts out as a light brown.

Andy, this mini really surprised me. It really has morphed into something to be quite proud of, on such an iconic figure for GW, too. Good show, old sport...

mostly just blue i think, possible some (liche) purple and magenta. colder flames than on your disc.

Tried to redo the flames still a bit of work needed on them still. Gold on the disk done. Not much else done going slow got another stinking cold; godamn fleabag germ ridden kids just nurgle plague demons in disguise. My two year old son likes to chew his pasta to a mush like consistency rub snot on it a couple of chesty coughs and then with a big smile on his cherubic face push it into my mouth.....instant cold.

I know the are so cute at that age, when they get older they change tactics to more devious plans. just so you know. Beware.

The lighting / contrast around the wast and upper leg is perfect, so perfect it draws the eye away from the face? No probs with that though imo.

you could add a greenish glow to the helmet slits and that would warm it up a bit and move more focus to the face. or just push the highlights more I'm sure you have plans though. I know how minis like this can change :p

Awesome stuff, Flames can be a bitch. Yours are starting to look dam good. Great colour selection. I like Zabs idea, I have to grow it, turn the green into whispy flames so it looks like his eyes are glowing green! just a thought :)

I see what your saying BFK about the base coat for the gold now. Pictures look so much different on an iphone. One thing hasnt changed though is it is still awesome.

Very nice as always, but I also think the head is disappearing a bit even though the purple horns. I think the glowing eye slit idea is good but maybe you could even consider changing the colour, like nmm silver just because everything else is so colourful. And then you could add reflections from the surrounding parts.

Your right about the head I thought purple horns and bright gold would make it pop but I'm going to go in and up the highlites a bit. I've been off work this afternoon can't lecture with no voice! Bloody stinking flu. Anyway got a bit of painting done (very very slow progress at the moment!).

Got it to do the head and a few glazes and the base to do. I'm going to do a squad for GD with this as the leader. Starting in plenty of time so I can do other things and don't get squad burn out.
