Custom ability for monsters: Sentinel

Sentinel: This monster guards all spaces on his line of sight. Attacks or movements on his line of sight triggers his Guard Reaction.

(for monsters with ranged attacks only, obviously)

This idea started as an error: we started to play the first campaing thinking that every monsters with range had this ability (a little mistake when reading the rules). But, we found that it wasn't impossible to play, just a little thoughter. And fun. A lot of fun.

So, what do you think about it? Do you have other ideas for custom monsters abilities that could improve the gameplay?

That sounds really harsh, particularly when it comes to Sister of Pleasure and Lord Fang. Actually, Lord fang (both the shadow and the real one) would up the difficulty by several hundred percent. ^_^
Might befun to try, though, just to see how hard we'd get pwned.

Lol. I know. But think as not every ranged monster having it, but just a few, custom made cards (maybe Goblin Sentinel o Beastman Spearman Sentinel), to have a sentinel or two on the map.

I think the Sentinel idea would make a great monster ability for a customized scenario/game. You may only want to have it trigger once per activation though.

As I think about customized scenarios and rules for the game, I recognize that there was also a deliberate balance of the designers of simplicity of the ruleset to keep the game quick and fun. This makes it accessible to more (and possibly newer) gamers, but part of me wants a deeper more involved ruleset that might not appeal to as broad of an audience. I think this is where custom campaigns/scenarios can be of aid to the community. Maybe rating them by complexity/accessibility.
