Wet Pallet question: mess in the morning

Hello!
I am just starting out with using a wet pallet, Its working great for painting and mixing, its so much nicer not having my paint dry out on me while i am working.
Problem is i left it overnight and in the morning it was just a big smear. I thought i had the "dampness" right but i guess it was too wet?

I think I know what you mean. I come back the next day and it seems to have continued to absorb the water and I just have extremely watered down paints on top of the baking paper. A few colors/brands don't seem to do this as badly though. Best thing I've found to to help is pour/soak most of the water out before covering it for the night. They're still thinned a little bit more than when I left but not as bad.

Interested to see what other people might use. Some people claim to get multiple days out of their paint on their wet palette without any loss of paint consistency.

My wet pallet is like a pot of chilli , never goes off - just add more chilli ! So just add more paint to the other.

Try putting a piece of clear wrap over the palette. I use waterbased oils and it works well to keep things workable. It make help to keep the acrylic separated.

What sort of paint are you using? I use Vallejo model and game color and have an opposite problem. The paints don't dry, but they do congeal in place, changing consistency to a non-quite-cured paint. I can add more water and usually get something usable again, but sometimes it feels too chalky to bother. I use Masterson Stay-Wet palette.
