*blush* Thanks so much ten ball. I've been trying to apply some of the lessons all of you fabulous painters have given me about pushing contrasts and thinking about colour placement. I also have to keep reminding myself that however well I *think* I might be doing, at my experience level I am not going to produce something of a similar quality to you, BAM, Bailey or any of the other painters I admire. Well...not yet. I'm aiming there, but need to exercise a little patience. 
Here's something to help you out in thinking about your progression, look back at when AndyG and Ten Ball first started posting mini's back in 2011.I also have to keep reminding myself that however well I *think* I might be doing, at my experience level I am not going to produce something of a similar quality to you, BAM, Bailey or any of the other painters I admire. Now look at how far they have progressed.
That is not a long time in terms of a lifetime.
Hell it's close to Thirty years since I started back up mini painting in earnest and I'm still learning new techniques.
But the most important piece of advice I can give you is to love what you do.

If this were me I probably would give it a basecoat of the complimentary colors I'll put around it. What I mean is, I think you're at or approaching the stage when I (others may be different) really need to see the eventual contrast of colors to know where I want to go, even on the parts that are pretty well-developed. I often get myself to a point where I feel I'm missing something, only to realize after the fact that what I was missing was context. After I make even a start on the other major areas, I usually have a clearer idea of what the skin (in this case) needs to approach the idea in my head.
That's just what I've found about how things shake out for me. You keep doing what's yielding such nice results. And good luck juggling all the great advice!

@SaintToad - Thanks, I'm glad you like them. I'm doing the parts that are hard to reach first up to almost done. Then I'll be blocking in more areas of colour to judge what needs to happen. The skin may well be fiddled with before the end, but I'm happy with where it stands at this point. Adjustments can always be made! If there's one thing this hobby has taught me it's that you need to remain flexible as far as possible.

By the way just so you know all the painters you admire ......admire you right back ,for your tenacity ,perspective and you just plain being and awesome ,lovely ,human being.....please shelagh if I ever have the added pleasure of meeting you I hope you'll accept dinner from me and Janet....and anything else you're like in our company,maybe a trip to games workshop New York...eh ?
