I give you a TON of credit...you have really taken a fancy to the craft and art of painting AND NOW RECENTLY SCULPTING miniatures...and your becoming damn good at both.very impressed at anybody who sculpts and those who try and show promise the very first time doing so....this me you shel!!!!!!! Helping out a friend

I'm still having a blast with sculpting - even started working on the scenery for my cat idea. And I may have started a second sculpture...

But a friend of YetiSA's has asked me to paint up three of his Guild Ball minis for him. He had the rest of the teams painted by a studio as part of the original Kickstarter, but these are new character releases. He loves to play the game, but painting isn't really his thing. So enter me (at YetiSA's insistence). He wants a similar tabletop quality to the existing minis which is basically 3-4 colours and a focused wash. YetiSA seized upon this as an excellent way for me to speed paint something. I'm still working on prepping them, but I'm looking forward to seeing what I can do with a speed paint.

Sure WGS. Here you go:


The big guy belongs to the Engineers team and the guy next to him to the Alchemists. One of the minis I'm painting is Compound who can play for either team, so I'll do a combo of the two colour schemes.


These two play for the Masons. The first mini I'll be painting is Chisel who plays for this team.


These two are from the Fishermen. The third mini, Sakana, plays for them.

Apologies for the varying quality of the images. But they were only sent to me so that I could get an idea of colours to try and match.

Yay, ArchArad the commission painter. You forgot to mention that you scratch built base inserts to match the ones from the kick starter.

Quite simple paint work, lesson in less is more for you on this one then. It almost looks like they did block colours and then dipped the miniatures

Pretty much. I think my biggest challenge will be avoiding the temptation to fiddle and add more detail. They're great sculpts, but the idea is to have them fit in with the rest of the teams. So I'll have to be good. :angel:

Mr thoughts exactly. It's an exercise in doing a good job without agonising over it. The shading is a little more subtle than dipping... But only a little.

Ooh I'll be looking forward to these, I do like the GB minis, they look and feel like a team made of individual characters rather than generic pieces which is cool

If he's gonna commission you I have an idea.......paint the new ones and give in to details ,paint them so darn good that he asks you to paint the original few up to the level of the newer ones.....I mean their basically imho prepped for you base colored and general shading so what I'm trying to say in my babbling is-GO NUTS SHEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@BAM - The idea is to get me to speed paint something remember....

And YetiSA calls it a commission. But I haven't discussed any pricing with him. So it's more a favour.
