The repaint of the marine mostly ruined by the varnish. It was a lot faster and some parts actually look better than the first version, but the paint-stripping and model in general made it hard to get anywhere with it.

Next is the Cosplay Haley. To be honest I wanted to put her in the gallery, but can't get a usable pic atm, but I named it wip3 instead. :)

And some fun planes from the series "macross delta". They are really small about 1/200 planes. They are quite cheap (around $5) and easy to build (each plane is made from less than 20 pieces).
There is at least 2 more to be released (no2 and 4) in the following months.

The funny part of the painting is that there is basically none. They are just put together, used an enamel paint to show the panel lines, markings and colors are stickers included in the box.
I really hate how Bandai puts stickers besides the planes instead of normal decals, but they look way better this way than the two I tried with paints and all.
They are mostly done, I may repaint the engines black/dark grey before varnishing them.

Aaaand the 1/72 VE-11 is also done.

These scale aircraft models are a completely different beasts compared to the usual figures we paint. They require a really different skillset. But a nice change of pace.

Did you varnish the marine the second time? ;)

I really like the VE-11. Nice crisp painting, decals seamlessly applied, and definitely a good change of pace.

nnope, didn't have the courage :)

I varnished the plane though and was ok.
Decals... they were a pain, more small decals than I had when painting a warhammer army. And lots of really small ones like "no step" on the wings or "danger exhaust" near the vernier thrusters.
(and a Super VF-25 sits here with even more parts(about 100-150 on 15 or so sprues) and more decals (over 100 / design with 2 designs available) )

I like how your cat girl turned out in the end, I like the base on her, those aircraft look pretty sweet too

Multitaskin'

Alairelle... I wanted to have autnm colors, so it won't be green, but red-yellow-brown-bit of green
So far I think I'm done with the skin, hair and clothes.

And in the right bottom corner a superhero. Most likely will go to WM's 'Heroes and Villains'.

Also can't have enough of the Super-VF's. This time: Super-VF25 (most likely in Alto Custom colors and markings) from Macross Frontier.
What's done so far: assembled as much as I could, primed.

Wow, that looks just like The Lady Inquisitor when she gets mad at me, you know, except for the pretty lady astride her back ;)

Progress on the Superhero.

about the Sylvaneth figure... I don't know if I should keep the current color and just line it or if I should make the color deeper (with red / orange inks)

How adventurous do you want to be on Alarielle? When you said more autumn, I immediately thought of red sumac:

But that is going to be a pita to paint and I'm not sure you want to go all in like that... just the thought I had and would give you somewhere to go with the ... branch(?)... holding her 'wings' together?

I really like the superhero lady's boots, and the shading/highlights on her stomach are especially nice. You're nearly done! Finishing by the end of July should be no problem (I'm afraid I'm not so lucky).

I'd suggest pushing the highlights on her shoulders higher, and the cape isn't working for me right now, but I'm guessing you're still working on it.

Changed the cloak on the Super-lady to match her boots :)

A bit of progression of the VF25

It's weird. On the pic it looks like as it has no shading while all the parts are shaded (white with a grey, grey areas with a dark grey).
Btw it's not glued yet, as some of the parts would make lining, decals and details a hassle. All it keeps it together is some prayers.

Next step will be a good coat of gloss warnish to help with lining AND decals. The second part I fear a bit as on the sheet they are numbered 1-189 and some are multple (no 186 has 40 duplicates by itself), so the total individual decals is somewhere between 300-400.

----------------
Took a better pic of the Super VE-11: http://www.coolminiornot.com/401725 (bit funny with the scoring. 6.9 for the average, but the registered user average is 8.0)

And finished the Autnm Alarielle. The Aim was a good TTQ instead on a lot of work. The colors are not as vivid as in real life, but I find it ok at getting the autnm feeling. pic is in the gallery: http://www.coolminiornot.com/401724 (here I find the 7.x closer to the truth to the registered 8.x)

I think with the ve-11 it's hard for most of us to judge how well its done, it's outside the frame of reference for probably most users here, I think it's well done though, alarielle looks above TT level to me, I love the autumn theme on her

Panel lines done.
Added most of the 300+ decals, only about 80-100 remains. :)
Still a LOT to do before I can add the final varnish to protect it.

sadly I still can't figure out what I'm doing wrong, but the recommended way of lining (gloss varnish, thin enamel / oil, cleanup) doesn't work for me. It either remains on the surface too or it's removed from the lines as well.
And it doesn't flow in the lines at all like it should be.
So I gave up, took out the WnN7 + VAC-Black and carefully painted all the lines in... took less time then expected, but it wasn't really fun.

-------------------

Today I tried to make "rose-water sorbet". Normally it costs a lot (4 euro for about 1-1.5 dl), so I wanted a better alternative.
Atm:
- 1 kg sugar (used 1/5th or 200g (1 cup for you in the US) ), 1 euro
- 1 250ml bottle of rose-water (used maybe 1/4th of it,probably less ( 4 tsp) ), 1 euro
- 1 l of water ( 5 cups? ), practically free

Sadly I don't have an ice-cream machine (and just for this I won't buy one), so it's pretty labor intensive. After it starts to freeze I have to stir it up every 15 minutes to keep it from freezing in one block.
But so far it looks good.

It looks great max, the only thing can think of for the lines would be watered down ink or paint but it would need tidying afterwards most likely, I consider myself a patient person but I don't think I could handle that many transfers, I find one or two tedious enough lol

Also I hope you made enough ice cream for all of us :p

I think it was worth it, the lining looks great and really adds a lot to the model. However I'm sure you'd like to get the other way to work. It would probably be quicker in the long run.

watered down ink would be the same as the oils used for lining, it's just that oils are easier to clean up and flow better in theory. Can't say they are, as that's exactly my problem.
Here is how it should behave: https://youtu.be/gDOuWAm0jjM?t=78 . And on the plastic surface if it is not painted it does and works really well (see the small plane pic on this page). But after priming, painting and gloss varnish it doesn't really do that altough it should.

Decals... after a while you get used to it. Also:
- the surfaces are pretty flat, so no problems like decals on SM shoulders
- the hasegawa decals are different from the GW ones. They break pretty easily, so if a decal goes through the edge, it bends and 'breaks' and with that follows the edge pretty well.

-------------

Altough not a lot of change is visible (most what were left to do was the underside), but I think the last WIP pic. I think it's finished.
All decals applied, mistakes touched up, Applied Micro-sol twice, then varnished the whole thing to ha that 'painted on' effect for the markings also added the clear parts.
